Anyone here play Hearthstone? It's about the only game I play anymore, not even magic. I'd love to hear what you guys think of the current standard meta as well as hear about/see any awesome wild decks you guys brewed up.
Also we should fight so I can kick your butt.

I used to play, but just found I was not enjoying it as much over time, especially every time an expansion came out and I had to shell out money to be able to compete.
I've only hit legend rank once.
I still enjoy watching twitch streamers play it though, which feels a little strange to me (and most people who see me watching it hahah) but people watch poker tournaments and stuff so *shrug*
I used to play with LordSenate a lot ( ) and then started to taper down and play less after he died shortly after TGT expansion released. Current meta looks fun, except quest rogue. dont know whos idea it was to come up with that but fuck quest rogue and all the bullshit that comes with it. Worse then pirate warrior IMO.

I play mage primarily so I NEVER lose to. Quest rogue, IMO Pirates is a much more stable and more consistent deck.
You should get back into it! Most top decks in the current meta are dirt cheap to craft because most of the legendaries this last set kinda sucked outside of wild. Plus the meta is bigger then it's ever been since beta and there have never been so many different top tier decks before.
If you decide to try it again let me know and I'll PM you my battle net.

I'm a priest player. I've always liked picking the underdog characters and classes in games. It makes each win that much more satisfying and takes the sting out of losses a little more then normal hahah
PM me your battle.net and if I reinstall I'll send you a friend request. I dunno tho, every expansion I always buy like 50 bucks woth of packs and then only play a week before either getting very very frustrated, or I get bored.
But PM me anyway so if you;'re not around when I do I can just send the request right away before I forget. Maybe having another friend to play with so its not just ladder and arena will bring some phunz back.

I feel even if I got into hearthstone to this date, I wouldn't enjoy it because it's to the point where even new accounts know what they're doing, and almost everyone is p2w.

You can definitely still get into it, but it would take you a lot of time to build a decent collection if you dont want to spend money.
There are lots of free to play decks that are competitive though, so you net-deck one of those, then play with it, or practice playing arena and you can use arena winnings to get packs and what not.
but really, if you want an easy way in you definitely would want to buy some packs.

I used to play Hearthstone, just like all the rest. I enjoyed the gameplay but I didn't care for how much time you had to invest into it, or money, to get a decent deck going.

Played it when it first came out. Figured, that's gotta be an even playing field, right? Wrong. Very much P2W. To the point where if you don't pay, you won't get above a 10% win rate. Honestly, I think Clash Royale (phone game) is better than Hearthstone, since you don't really see wallet warriors until you're a good 6 months in (arena 8-9), and even then, you can usually outsmart/out logic them.
It is cheaper than Magic though, which is a plus. Unless you play the unlimited rules where you aren't limited to the last ~18 month's releases and can play any card you have. That's cheaper (and more fun) since there haven't really been that many glass cannon/super good with a super flaw/deathstar cards lately.
Otherwise, I regularly play half of the Blizzard games, because they're pretty awesome and don't require a 500$ investment every year. (Overwatch, HotS, D3/D2/D1)

As someone who came to HS from a background in magic I find it absolutely ridiculous how many people expect the game to be free to play. It's a card game, this is how card games work. I mean can you imagine if some dude bought $20 worth of Magic packs, made a deck then went around complaining about how his deck was bad. Well no shit, this is a hobby, hobbies cost money.
This post is not directed at anyone, so don't think it is. I just see this attitude a lot and don't understand it. So sorry if I come off bitchy.

I never thought of it like that.
I'd rather spend money on a hobby like Magic with tangible cards, then spend it on a digital game like Hearthstone because that feels like a gimmick.

Pretty much, same. I'm a lot more inclined to drop money on tangible objects that I can have, than I am to drop money on digital objects that can be yoinked away by game companies/glitches/whatever. I recognize what you mean by saying you shouldn't expect to get everything free, though.

I get that, but for me I figure Magic cards could be stolen or lost or damaged, Hearthstone cards can't, Plus you can dust cards you don't want and play literally whenever you want, unlike magic.

Ever since that big change with wild and new standard, when they, IMO, fucked that game up, I stopped playing. First off my MECH decks were just not competitive anymore, and RNG made me rage so much(and Im of peaceful-zen state of mind person) it became so unbearable I just couldn't play it anymore.
Never invested any real money, but, if I remember correctly, I had at least 10+ legendary's(not counting free ones), just by doing quests and arena. As dedication and wasted time wasn't good enough for a player who does not want to spend any money... RNG was last nail in the coffin for my Hearthstone career.

Yeah but do you know how much it costs to P2W to get every single card every time they release an expansion?
Krip was doing it for a while just to get enough dust to get all golden cards and he was dropping $1500+ at a time on packs and still would only get like half the cards To get every card, every expansion, you'd have to be dropping THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS every single expansion. That's insane
Granted, you don't have to go that hard.. that's the most extreme example.. but still. You can easily drop 10k+ on this game if you want to go that hard.
Magic was what, a couple bucks a pack and early on you could spend ~100-200 and have a super thorough comprehensive deck with pretty much every card to choose from I don't know what it's like now, well I know if you want those early cards you are spending a lot. But I guarantee Hearthstone probably rakes in a fuckload more money than Magic ever did. To someone coming into the game with no knowledge of decks, it's intimidating as fuck with what like 4-5 expansions worth of cards? and lets be honest the F2P cards mostly suck ass, to get into the Meta and build a strong diverse decklist you either need to grind it out in Arenas for forever or shell out a ton of cash to get all the cards you want and even if you are spending cash it comes down to RNG.
