Being in search of the most potent scerlotia possible,
I saw these being advertised on azarius and they claim that they are the most potent, quoting: 'exciting truffle strain of mysterious origin' .. Which is probably their way of saying they don't want to divulge how it is made.
Do you think these are just genetically derived from taking various mono-cultures from the genetics of p. Tampanesis or Mexicana or that they come from an entirely different mushroom altogether?
Curious for your input guys,
Thanks

Tampanensis, galindoi, ATL#7, Atlantis etc... They're all Psilocybe mexicana Strong truffles are gotten thru selection using agar and testing them

Nah, that's their way of repackaging the same shit under a new name and description for more money. It's marketing. That's why there's 500 different cube varieties that are basically the same shit.

It is a good marketing technique. From your experience, which substrain of Mexicana consistently is most potent? I would say galindoi seems to procure the most well defined stones, whereas Chico Nindo seems to have not as clear cut boundaries where the stones start and the mycelium finishes. Anyone else had luck with stones?

i dont think you understand the difference in a strain and a race/variety and a species
i am a strain, you are a strain, we are both humans (species), i am a white guy (race). just like my pug dog (strain) is a of the variety pug (race) of the species canine/dog (species). just like the Gorilla Glue #5 im smoking (strain) is a strain of RACE Gorilla Glue #5, which is a race of the species cannabis sativa
your question is misinformed in several ways. all psychedelic truffles are the same species, just different names for marketing and possibly different races of the same species (though many are totally indistinguishable). within a species, no race is going to be necessarily stronger than another, just like no race of human is smarter than another one (in general)
you are using "strain" where you mean "race", those mean very different things. there are hundreds/thousands/countless of strains within any culture from spores. the only way you are going to have a single strain is if you isolate it (which isnt worth your time, and could take a long time).
as bod said, if you want strong truffles, you should pick ANY race of mexicana, and test a bunch of cultures till you find a strong one (or clone a strong one), then bingo, you have a culture of strong truffles.
none will be strong simply because of the name someone sold it under

Okay, I figured they were all derived from tampanesis, but your right on the money. Geographically you still have different varieties of shrooms though - tampanesis from Tampa and Mexicana from Huatla?

Tampanensis has only been found twice ever IIRC and the original is what brought all of the cultures/prints we have in cultivation.

Definitely I would be interested in hearing from people who have managed to produce the best truffle genetics on agar. I have heard that the darker cultures of mycelium or those with spots have a propensity to produce stones, rather than the fluffy whiter bits - but it seems like more of a black art or trial and error for most part. Commercial growers definitely won't say what is best!

I would think you could just clone a "Valhalla" sclerotia from a shop in Netherlands and grow your own. Did you ever find out if "Valhalla" is the strongest isolated sclerotia?

Just to update since you necrod it:
Since what i wrote above, which was commomly accepted as true, more genetic work has been done
A few weeks ago Allan Rockefeller did some analysis which showed that tampanesis is a separate but closely related species, and the galindoi in circulation is actually tampanesis
So all the commonly cultivated stone producers are either tamp or mexicana varieties, contrary to what i said above
This is further complicated by the fact that both are within section Mexicanae
As far as most potent isolated strains, that would depend on isolates. But i would assume those brand names are typically virieties rather than isolates, so it woulf be like asking what is the most potent race of weed: it depends on the strain (not variety/race) and the conditions, etc., more than the brand/variety/race name
