two stupid questions

I was wondering if you can steralize grain substrates in an oven? I know you can't boil them but i don't have money to buy a crockpot (got ripped off on ebay and am still working it out). Also when i do decide to buy a crockpot what size should i get? is a 6qt. big enough and how many 1/2 pint jars will it hold and how many 1 pint jars?

no, crockpot is not a pressure cooker, don't buy a crockpot.
and u don't need a big one, if you don't have the money just get any size, it just means having to do more smaller batches. That's what I do.
