Condensation on Mycelia
    #2435064 - 03/15/04 01:15 PM (20 years, 18 days ago)

Made a Verm./Peat/shell casing from 2 brf cakes. Was put in the fruiting chamber after the mycelia was coming through the surface in several areas. Fuiting chamber is at 75 with 2 inches of perlite - 1/2 inch of water. Also in the chamber is 4 cakes - double end cased.

Fanning is done 3 to 4 times per day. Condensation is forming on the mycelia that is on top of the casing.

Is the rh too high?
Will this condensation cause a problem?
Should I fan more - or longer when I do fan?

Thanks for help!

You don't want condesation forming on the cakes. Are you misting or something? Or is that humidity coming from the perlite? You don't need that much water in the perlite. It shouyld be soaked and drained before putting it in. You could also make a hole in the bottom of your fruiting chamber for drainage.

Good luck

Thanks for the help!

I was misting the verm. on the top and bottom for the cakes that are in the chamber because I did not dunk them and they seemed a little dry. I haven't seen condensation on the cakes - it has only been on the mycelia in the casing.

I'll try putting a hole in the bottom to see if I can get any liquid out of the perlite.
