Okay, so it repeats one number in the sequence, and it doesn't quite get back to the beginning again, but the sequence definitely seems to be following the fibonacci principles, except that it gets so far and then contracts once more rather than increasing to infinity (which let's face it, is a little impractical in a song).
Interesting to note how pleasing the sequence of syllables expressed using the fibonacci sequence is to the ear, it lends a rhythmic quality to the words that is unusual and yet quite natural and familiar.
The second time this phrase pattern appears in the song it almost has a better sequencing, and looks like it might extend it too, but it doesn't quite manage it.
As above for the first few lines: (1) (1) (2) (3) (5) (8) Reaching out to me, let's me see there is so much more (13) And beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities (17) As below so above and beyond I imagine (13) Drawn outside the lines of reason (8) Push the envelope (5) Watch it bend (3)
As you can see, second time around in the song the sequence is much more expanding-contracting fibonacci-like, in that there is no annoying repetition of the 8-syllable phrase in the sequence to get in the way, so the only anomaly the second time around is the sudden appearance of the number 17, which to my mind can justifiably appear as an oddity as it functions as the rotation point for going back down the fibonacci sequence again. Shame it didn't rotate around the number 21 though, the next number in the fibonacci sequence. Unless someone can point out a special feature of the number 17, either in and of itself or preferrably how it relates to other numbers in the sequence as a ratio."

The sequence of ratios continues on infinitely, much like pi, ever approximating a number that be practically shortened as 1.618, and expressed as a ration as 1:1.618 (inversely expressed as 0.618:1).
Well, I was thinking about this, and I began to wonder, what about music. Surely music, that most mathematical of constructs, must bear some relation to the Fibonacci sequence? Now, I'm not interested in whether a particular composer experimented with the Fibonacci sequence to write a specific musical work. That research has been done, and is well documented. What I'm interested in is its fundamental relationship to the scales and modes that the human mind finds attractive.
So I took the first few numbers of the sequence and overlayed it on the major scale of western music and started looking for patterns. What I got was inconclusive at best, but does bear further inquiry:
Fibbonacci number applied over a C major (or 8 note ionian) scale
1 # 2 # 3 4 # 5 # 6 # 7 8 1 2 3 5 8 8 13 21 34 55
I have no idea what the above means, except that that there is a emphasis on the major triad (1,3,5), the mixolydian root (5), and especially the aeolian, or natural minor, root (6), and a complete absence of emphasis on the lydian root (4).
I also wondered what if I overlayed this sequence on the twelve note octave, disregarding the major scale altogether? You what I got? The same damn thing! Here is the correspondence of the seqence layered over the twelve note octave to the sequence layered over the eight note major scale of western music.
Fibbonacci number applied over a C chromatic (or 12 note) scale:
1 # 2 # 3 4 # 5 # 6 # 7 8 1 2 3 5 8 13 (1) (2) (3) (5) (8)
Note that the resulting correlations when the major scale is transposed over these notes is again 1,2,3,5,8!!! What any of this means, I'm not quite sure. It will require further investigation. I'm sure the answer lies in the music of the spheres, and perhaps the correct serotonin antagonists may provide fruitful research results.

interesting pappy about music of the spheres... have you read "Nadha Brahma"? It's a book about how the musical scales that man has created are true reflections of harmony in the universe, etc etc... some obscure hindu philosophy of the world being sound. hence aesthetically pleasing colours are "harmonious" and so on. Check it out.

Maybe someone should dose grams of cubensis/hits of acid as per the Fibonacci sequence on the corresponding days (i.e., one gram/hit the first day, two the third etc. up to 13 or 21 and back down to 1(?)) and report back.
