My agar growth with plain ole potato flakes and a drop of honey is well... pretty bland. I hope to try BRF or atleast grain water agar soon.

premixed..
the place i get petris from had a sale on some. directions say to use 20g per 1000ml.
I know you know this but you can do a damn fine and cheap pda from potato flakes and dextrose. I strain out the flakes first and the result is a clear mix with no sediment, which is good if you're using petris. People often complain about premixed.
That's exactly how I do my PDA. I just add a small handful of flakes and boil for a moment, then strain out all the flakes and then use that water to make agar as usual. Comes out perfectly clear each time!
I actually got bitched out on here once for saying that that's how I make my PDA. Everyone was like "uh...noob why bother straining? Sediment in your agar? You noob, mushrooms eat that sediment."
What can I say? I like clear agar
The only agar mix I don't strain is BRF agar which I do when I'm in a rush and because it works a treat with low nute ratios.
I don't strain the potato flakes just because I like it (which I do), but because a clear, translucent agar mix allows you to hit a flash light at the bottom of the container/petri so you can have a very clear and different view of the growth patterns of the culture. Growth patterns that may look badass from above may stand revealed as not so good or disorganized when you use the flash light.
Pretty useful for critical moments such as noccing a LC and you'd want to make sure you noc it with the best looking spot of a given culture.

Thank you man! I used 2 quarts spawn and 2 quarts coir. I also made a little 6q shoebox yesterday with 1q:1q ratio. To put them in fruiting, Do I just flip the lid and allow FAE? Im trying bods unmodified tub tek, but with a smaller tub.

Wat.
That jar had only the lightest scent of mushrooms. It was solid mycelium, what we're seeing is when I ripped the cake in half from knocking it out of the jar.

A healthy jar must have a strong mushroom smell, not sweet in the slightest or any other smell other than mushrooms. If the mushroom scent was light as you said that could very well mean there's something fucky with it.
But I'm not there to smell those jars, just the look of them is a clear cut case of bacteria and not just a little of bacteria...
Did you try to shake those jars? I bet they would not budge no matter how hard you shook. It is a solid mass of myc with very thick and matted strands. Uncolonized and wet looking grains pushed against the glass is usually another tell tale.

¡!!!!!!!¡
Haha late at night I moved a bunch of spent tubs to the garage with the intention to dump them the next day but I forgot. I went to pull some tent gear out and noticed half the tubs put up another flush- so I pulled them up and when I got to the bottom.....
I didn't want to go back inside I feel like they should decontaminate me with those brooms they use for radiation I cursed my house

I dunno what to tell you. Mushroom smell is a mushroom smell. If its heavy and heady that usually indicates heavy moisture. This wasn't sweet, it was just light...I've never heard someone say a light mushroom smell is an indicator of something wrong.
Grains were perfect, had no issue moving them around post PC, no excess moisture or discoloration, growth was steady from innoc spot and stayed consistent over a 30 day period until it fully colonized. I only took it out of the jar when I saw a pin pop up on the side. Mycelium growth was just like any other time I've grown mazatapecs.
If my grow dies a green death in 3 weeks then I'll come back to agree with you, but right now it looks and smells ideal.

Bacteria can cause a jar to lose smell "strength". If you see fruits in 3 weeks that doesn't mean it's not bacterial, bacterial tubs can also fruit if the contamination is not very severe.
Anyway man, have it your way, sorry to try and bust your bubble. Those jars are perfectly healthy, enjoy.
