Abandonment of a presto?...
-------------------- The bonds and ties of the life we know break easily. But through eternity one bond remains; the bond of fellowship. Indeed.
If you were European, that Presto would get a nice new home, or a nice room with a view. Or it would now fulfill the rest of it's days only making soups and stews, instead of the hard labour of grain sterilizing...
What a waste...

Filter material. We use that on air filters for the construction sites. Good idea, didn't even cross my mind to use it

Me too eatyu. So much so I'm reusing old pf tek jars as pasty plates. Don't get me wrong, pasty plates are great I just feel like having actual petris would be better for seeing what I'm doing. I'm comfortable with my SAB work at this point to pour. I hate having condensation on my pasty plates and that opaque plastic with blue lid is hard for me to see what's going on. Especually since I'm super new to agar work.

You'll probably have condensation with petri's as well. I know I always do. Seen people recommend to toss it out inside the SAB, won't work for me because it condenses on the lid and stays there pretty good, also saw ppl say to stack the petris, still condensation. Stack them while cooling, still condensation.
I don't really mind the bit of condensation though. If I need a clear visual, besides from underneath, I'll put them some place a bit warmer so it evaporates inside the petri... The only time it causes problems is when you have contams and the water spreads it. But I don't spend too much time dealing with contams on petris. If I think I can transfer clean in 1 or 2 steps, I'll do it, if a hot pout is needed, I'll do that too, but if it looks bad, I'd rather start all over, or make up some tetracycline plates.
And not all of them have it equally bad...
And I'm all about eco too, but there are limits to what I'll do, plus, for the price of petris and the ease of use, I can't go and buy some expensive PP's... Plus I've had one too many PP melting accident in my pc. I'm done with that...

Will be doing the vtek with a slight modification.

My plates are always bone dry
I like using both, I use Pasty Plates for stuff like germination and transfers, disposable pitres to cold store master and working cultures, and slants for long term.
GoldenPreacher if you are having condensation problems then you are pouring your agar too hot. I found you need to wait until the agar is cooled to the point it will start to solidify if you leave it any longer. Bodhisatta did a really great write up you should read about pouring plates, I've been pouring plates for years and I even learned some great stuff from it about using a water bath, I used to get it to temp by feel alone (works though). If you pour your agar at the correct temp you won't even get condensation on the top plate.
