Went for a drive up to Aucklandia yesterday, Me and work mate noticed patches of subs all the way along the edge of the southern motorway from Bombay to Takanini. Back in the BOP, Arataki to Rangiuru/ Paengaroa is loaded with massive patches in the pine mulch plantings of harakeke visible from the road driving past at 100k. There are certain overpasses along this stretch that look like candyland; literally dotted out in yellow. With a slow start in the Bay, the elements have sure combined to kick the season off to what I have never seen before. Every where, I mean everywhere you go there are subs everywhere. Right in the wide open in plain view. Reckon those two cyclones got the substrates nice and soggy. Get amongst it crew. There are enough shrooms to dose the world.

Damn my Sub patch has been cleaned out!

Good news is that the monster Subseco patch is still untouched and we took literally a few KG worth (a gearbag full) without even making a dent in the patch. In fact we did this without even standing on the dirt, that was from the footpath.
Will be a mega drying mission this weekend and I imagine enough stocks to last the whole season. Would still rather have some Subs though as they just look better!

beautiful, isn't it? I had an amazing trip last night, quite subtle but profound, intense waves of joy and a feeling of golden inner illumination. it's going to be hard to wait for the next one (after last years overindulgence I'm limiting my intake) :mushroom2::mushroom2:

Had a funny hunt yesterday, hit up a reliable patch out of town which is very secluded so easy to spend some time there.

On the way back we hit a very public patch in the middle of a small city. Just as we were done and walking back to the car a cop car pulls up next to us. As the cop was getting out we dumped what we had in the garden and kept walking. It was a lone cop with a dog in the back. My mate went a different direction. As I was walking the cop drove past me and pulled up 50 meters in front of me, as I'm walking towards him he gets out of the car, goes to the back and opens it, the dog was going off. I thought he was going to get the dog out but he just closed the door and got back in the car. I walked past him and kept walking, didn't look back. My mate saw him pull up in front of me and thought I got done. I was thinking he got done too.

Finally hooked up with my mate a bit later and we got out of there, thought about going back to get what we dumped but decided not to, it wasn't much and we still had a large amount from the secluded patch.

I also set up a tasty bottle of Tequila!!

12 hours later.

Found these two actives on a bush walk around Palmerston North growing out of a twig about 300mm long.
That thing was like a mycelium blunt, broke it up and spread the bits around.

I know they are active but could anyone tell me if they are either subs or one of the other psilocybes?
I would print them if they are something other than subs.

Chur Fred T, absolute filthy find! When will that patch be matched? Nice clusters of stipes attached at the base.

As for the name, it is actually uncertain if P. subsecotioides is a variety of P. weraroa or not.

So P. subsecotioides is the more appropriate name, it is only suspected that P. subsecotioides is a variety of P. weraroa.

P. weraroa var. subsecotioides would be appropriate if it was certain that the species is a variety of P. weraroa, but it isn't.

Even more appropriate would be P. 'subsecotioides' as the species name was coined 'subsecotioides' by inski due to it's partial secotioid form.

Un-published names, especially in mycology, don't need the quotation marks however. But I do think you could use two quotation marks also, so I think P. "subsecotioides" works as well, but I suspect it's personal preference. I'm no damn English professor, but I do try.

Even P. 'subsecotioides' nom prov. inski is probably the most accurate title currently. As it addresses inski as the dude who came up with the nom prov.
:nerd::shrug:

Actually inski tested one and found it to be the same species only a different var... I I.D them for him so its only a variety my nigga I've spoken to inski about it

Good haul of p. subs North of Wellington. [Re: Helpmegrowshrooms]
    #24334833 - 05/20/17 05:39 AM (1 month, 2 days ago)

Checked a patch that had never produced before but always looked like it had potential. All of the top ones are legit.

The ones down the bottom of the photo have thinner browner stalks and less blueing.

I think they're subs but gonna do a spore print to check them.

Always best to be on the safe side!
