Today's plates:
P.cl T1 is a clone from a Peru cube variety, this is the dried, one-year-old mushy I took it from:
Tissue was taken from both stem and cap, put to agar 4 days ago, saw miniscule growth from what I think was the cap tissue, transferred today. Real happy with that, as this variety has a very visual trip with a giggly onset, and first three hours a very clear-headed feeling. My favorite cube so far. Spores from print would no longer germinate.

They are thirsty - give them a drink and they'll grow better.

You and me both on the eyeballing part...
You might try a top or bottom water. Gently adding some moisture, a cc or 2 (max at one time), to the top of the cake helps when I have pins that aren't getting what they need. Just don't overdue it and keep up the FAE.

Pretty happy with the harvest of my first flush from my first mono ever.
The bruise blue so so easily, makes me believe they are pretty strong. This was some commercial GT strain.

Here's my comparison of brf cakes made from home ground brown rice vs. store bought brown rice flour. The home ground are on the bottom. I cut them in half for the first pic, and I broke them up further for the second pic:
As predicted, and based on prior experience, the store bought brown rice flour made cakes that were mushier and stickier in the center, and therefore didn't colonize the center quite as well. The store bought flour cakes seemed to shrink more as the center became more compacted.
When cultivators say not to allow your grains to burst when prepping for larger grows, I think it is fair to draw a comparison here, where the coarser, more solid home ground brown rice flour can be likened to grains that didn't burst, whereas the store bought brown rice flour can be likened to grains that burst and became mushy, sticky, and wet.

Wish I had pictures but same thing happened a lot more prolifically with that KSSS you sent me last summer. Fucking polka dots of mutants all around the grain.

Glad my GF is ok with all that. But she's pushing me to grow more edibles too... Which I am completely fine with btw. I'm about to put a wild piece of Laetiporus Sulphureus to agar too
Could also be Grifola Frondosa, but it was growing at the top of the trunk, so I think it's the chicken. Harvested both off that trunk last year though... That little base of the chicken kept staring at me eveytime I walked past. Will make for a good decomposer of my Hericium wood chip jars, I hope...
you won't be able to fruit chickens. some of the best cultivators have tried with no success. its a very weak mycelium. I recommend you try lions mane, oysters, and shaggy manes. those three are easy to grow indoors with traditional methods.

a stem tissue clone from 2014. wasn't expecting it to do anything. in fact, i put it on agar and it didn't grow after a week.
