How often shold you change perlite?

How often shold you change perlite? I ask this because a friend just had to throw away a whole casing cause it was infested w/ green contams... And i was thinking maybe it was because of the old perlite (bout 2 months) he was using. Thanks

You can reused perlite, you just have to boil it, or soak it in bleach once a month or so. Rinse well, then reuse.

If you don't top it up with fresh h2o2 once a week, it can harbour contams.

Yea thanks alot, I think ill try the bleach method. How much bleach should i put in, and for how long should i let it soak?

O yea I forgot a ?. How much h2o2 do you put in every week?

Well, as you want to sterilise it, a good squirt is needed.
You cant really over do it, as you can rinse it off anyway, once its had a nice long soak (say 2 hours)

As to h202, same again, as nothing is growing or touching the perlite, just add enougth to kill the baddies. Say 10ml of h2o2
a week.

perlite is so cheap... toss it out and start with fresh...
