Where to fruit casings.....
    #2427071 - 03/13/04 10:42 AM (20 years, 20 days ago)

I know that the casings dont need the high humidity that cakes do. I have been putting them in the same FC as my cakes and havent had good results. What should I fruit the casing in? Should I just put them in a plastic container by themself?

I have a small fruiting chamber set up like my big one. Lava rocks and fencing for the cakes to sit on. I have put all my cakes in the big FC and have the little one disconected. I think I will put my casing in there and leave it un-hooked. The humidity should stay low enuf without the airpump working.

Though casings might not need as much humiderty due to having
a high water conten, you still want things humid if possible
as casing can dry out in a dry atmospher, so you want something
like what you fruited the cakes in, but bigger.

The smaller FC will hold the casing that I have. The temp is hanging around 74degF and the humidity stays around 84% with the lid on and 60% with the lid off. Whitch one would be better?

KOOL! Thanks.

I have been putting the casings in with my cakes, and have had bad luck. I hope that the cased popcorn that I have in the incubator does OK.

I don't mean to threadjack, but How much air exchange is necessary if you just set the trays in a rubbermaid tub with a lid?

i just use an aquarium with some damp paper towles under the casings, spraying once or twice a day as needed
