Dunk and roll in coir....Pix

I have 8 half pints dunking. I have some casing material left over from doing my last casing. It is in an air tight container. I have been using it to patch the casing. Could I use the casing material to roll my cakes in? Mar 17 I only rolled 4 of the cakes in the coir. I was too lazy to make up the verm. This is a pix of all 8.

Since the coir has been pasturized(sp), I dont see how it could hurt. Coir is used in casing, whitch is just dunking and rolling on a diffrent level. I cant see how using the coir to roll cakes in could be harmfull. I will roll 4 with the coir and pasturize some verm to roll the other 4 in.

It works great. Actually when I came up with the dunk and roll I posted that people should try a coir and verm mix. I had it work great but nobody seemed to try it.

verm holds more water than coir. Right? and I thought the reason you use coir in the casing layer is to identify that its dry so you can mist it. Am I wrong?

The caseing layer on a caseing and the layer on a cake serve the same perpose.

I thought that coir held more water than verm. Im not sure.
I have the coir ready, so I think I will just use it.

Not exactly... it's only explained that "You will be adding hot water to the coco coir to make it expand". It's here
I know that "the correct water amount is reached, when you take a handful of the casing mix and squeeze it in your hand, not too hard, a few drops of water should come out of it", but in % how much water?
