The Offspring--Live
    #2430573 - 03/14/04 07:33 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

The Offspring
Glasgow SECC
13/03/04

Excellent fuel packed 100mph gig, adrenaline filled set
from a bunch of old timers who are not ready for the
scrapheap just yet.
I read they had been together since 1984 and their Smash
album holds the record for sales from an independent
label at 5 million copies. I bought Smash in 1994 which
really makes you feel old, ten years ago is hard to take in.
Their style of music?s hardly changed in all the years they?ve
been together, listen to their new album Splinter and it sounds
pretty much like Smash, but they have a style people love so
why change it.
They played stuff from their new album, Worst Hangover was
good, Hit That was rocking. It was the old favorites that got
the place jumping Gotta Get Away, Self Esteem, Americana,
Pretty Fly, Staring at the Sun and my old fave Bad Habit, I
was rocking, put anyone 15m from that stage and the same
would happen to them.
I?m not an Offspring addict I?m a gig addict and as long
as my adrenaline flows like last night I?ll be an addict
for a while yet.
I know some here will say or think they suck, but hey
they rocked last night.

i like their old shit a lot.. smash, nitro, selftitled.. ixnay on the hombre was pretty good too. but the last few albums have really sucked ass in my opinion.

but that's sweet, sounds like it was a good show!

I agree. After Ixnay they went way too commercial with fly for a white guy and all the rest. I heard the new song on the radio "hit that" and it belongs on Nickelodeon. It sounds nothing like smash in my opinion. Smash was actually good.

i used to love Offspring when i was younger (when they didn't put out such shit) ... went to one of their concerts and it was pretty cool, it was my first concert ...

but their last few albums have made me lose complete respect for them

everybody feels the same way ... what the hell is going on in their heads?

I used to love the Offspring back in the day. Smash was really good but I stopped liking them after that, their work seemed really watered down and nothing like the first two CD's. Ignition is still awesome though, I've been listening to it again recently.

Same problem with Rancid too. I still love 'Rancid' and 'Let's Go!' but '...And out Come the Wolves' is only ok. After that they really fell apart and they suck now! I guess the record companies step in at a certain point and try to force a certain style on them....I can't explain how two good bands would just turn to crap once they got air-play.

I saw The Offspring live at KROQ's "Almost Accoustic Christmas" concert a few years back - they put on a pretty nice show at the time.... I was stoned out of my mind though so I probably woulda enjoyed whoever they threw up there - awesome crowd that year

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.

"fly for a white guy"?
"the kids aren't alright"?

Listem to ignition then smash to hear what they are really capable of.

 Offspring rocks. Their style has definatly changed through time, but i wouldn't say its for the better or worse.. I love their old stuff, and I really like their newer stuff, too.

All in all, they're a great band.

they aren't even punk anymore, it's just pop. and his voice is all whiny and annoying now.

but yeah most of you know whats up. especially thedude because he likes Rancid - Lets Go.. one of my favorite punk albums ever.

anyone who criticizes anyone's choice in music, regardless of the reason for its creation, can rot in hell.

I dont mind criticism  what i do mind is people
who tell me, you've wrote the wrong thing about the band,
your details are wrong or something like that, wrong band
member for example. These people are assholes who dont
remark on the post just slag you off for the error.
A good gig would kill these assholes.
