I think by Monday/Tuesday bitcoin will start to move upwards

My portfolio is currently down a jaw dropping amount.

I'm down a total of $2,600, but that's because I'm holding over $28,000 of ETH alone.  I can't believe how my calculation on the low of ETH worked out.  While I was watching the Rayner Teo Zoom presentation (9pm - 11:00pm EST) I had Cryptowatch running maximized with the conference overlaid upon it in a manner that allowed me to see prices of BTC and ETH.

I picked up my phone and calculated the ratio of BTC (6% down) to ETH (10% down) and made my best guess as to where BTC would bottom.  I applied that loss ratio to ETH, calculated 1323, and set my limit order to 1320.2.  Below is the result!  Now, I >>>EXPECT<<< both are going to dip even MORE as I said 2 - 3 posts ago, but from this position I am HODL and just spectating.  Remember these immortal words: "The market is a device for transferring money from the impatient to the patient." Everybody just HODL.

EDIT: DAYUM!!!      ETH dipped below 1300!!!

The last drop on the left at 40k compared to where we currently sit on the right

Id expect that to be our support if we fall, 41k or so

Seems to be similar pattern first drop bouncing off the ema 20 and then dropping further to the ema 50 before reversing

Wish i woulda just trusted myself on a fall to the 50 day ema

I expected a shot up to 52-55kish first and it never came, or if it did i missed it

Ill have funds in a week or so and i hope i get them in time to catch this dip before the next run

The buy signal for me is the 3 day ema breaking above the 8 day ema and bouncing off the 8 day ema as opposed to breaking down again.

As far as i can tell that is a strong indication of trend reversal and if the other indicators align with it, i would be confident adding.

Ill wait for that on what i consider a highly unlikely dip lower.

Imo 41k (50 day ema) will be base and support

For my part, there isn't all that much trading involved in my asset allocation plan for crypto, and this approach has served me well, despite paper losses in the six figures this week. :crazy2:

Six figures???  Geezus!  :bow2:    I'm only down $700.00 at the moment thanks to early (dumb luck) profits that got plowed back into ETH, LINK and BTC.  My total (invested) portfolio stands at almost exactly $35,000 with another $15,000 in un-invested cash - which is EXACTLY where it is going to remain unless some extraordinary new opportunity presents itself.

My plan is to just follow the bouncing ball until a solid, undeniable and irrefutable up-trend is in evidence, at which point I will set trailing stop loss orders to lock it all in with the cash remaining on the sidelines.

I would like to set a trailing stop loss on the 5 ETH purchased at 1320.2 at or around 1460 so I don't have to stare incessantly at my computer during the work day.  I'm totally paranoid about filling out the information box since there is an "extra line" in addition to the normal limit sell order that I do not understand.  Usually it is just quantity and price for a normal limit sell.

Should "stop price" and "Limit price" be the same number?  I'm at a complete "loss" on how to proceed.   Can someone chime in on the proper procedure for filling out a stop-loss limit on Cryptowatch?

I only need help this once.  Once I do it correctly one time, I'll be able to lay claim to a new crypto investing skill.  Who here would be kind enough to take a minute to help?  Is THIS right?

Some compelling data in this article: More Institutional Investors Jumping Into Bitcoin Leaves Less to Go Around, Data Shows

Quote:

Four million. That’s roughly how much bitcoin is circulating freely right now, blockchain data show. The number has been getting a little smaller with each passing month over the last year.

It’s the assessment of Glassnode, an analysis firm that tracks blockchain data. The pattern suggests that the ever-decreasing supply of bitcoin available to buy and sell might lead to a price surge as more institutional investors embrace the largest cryptocurrency as an investment.

Bitcoin’s “liquid supply change” – the amount by which the number of coins in circulation has changed over the prior 30 days – has been negative for most of the past year, according to Glassnode:

As of Monday, there were only about 4 million BTC in constant circulation and available for buying, trading and selling, according to Glassnode. The 30-day net change of BTC supply held by liquid and highly liquid entities has been in the negative territory since last April, except for a short stint between July and August and again briefly in December.

“This has never happened before for such an extended period of time, and could lead to a massive supply squeeze soon,” Glassnode wrote on Feb. 26 in its weekly newsletter.

[...]

Data from another blockchain-analysis firm, CryptoQuant, show that more than 12,000 BTC, worth roughly $600 million, was moved out of the cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase Pro Tuesday – seen as a likely withdrawal to cold storage for long-term holding by one or more institutional investors. It might be a sign the investors took advantage of the price dip to accumulate bitcoin at a discounted price.

Exchanges like Coinbase Pro are among the few preferred platforms by institutions to buy and sell bitcoin, according to John Willock, chief executive at digital-asset exchange Blocktane. It means that bitcoin’s already finite supply is only more scarce to these large bitcoin buyers.

“Coinbase will only touch coins through their exchange, liquidity providers and network of other partners that are brought to their liquidity pool by parties which are able to be fully vetted for the source of legitimate funds,” Willock said. “The bitcoin available on that platform can be considered ‘clean’ and not having recently been the proceeds of a hack, theft, ransomware or darknet markets.”

Fewer bitcoins are becoming available to institutions “because they have higher standards than the general market, “ Willock said. “So, as a result, these sorts of institutions can be forced to start bidding up coins on these ‘clean’ exchanges, and that drives up the price overall.”

This NFT of art shit is boggling. To own a digital token representing a real photograph that exists on internet. I get people buying old famous tin type photos like of Billy the kid for no reason but to be the guy who owns it, but this is :oldman:

Never say never but I think most of these NFT's are like TY babies. They're hot when they're hot and worthless when they're not. If you can sell one when they're hot go for it. In a year or two they'll be forgotten and worthless.

You see Bodhisatta, a moderator, back Geokills, an admin, and you see me, a fellow admin, also throw up a testimonial in Geo's favor.

While I disagree with Bodhisatta in that one should not just diversify ones assets but also once info resources.. I can't speak for Bodhi, but I have been watching Geo's crypto shenanigans for a while now, more so than the activities of any other participant of this thread, so while there will have been people no doubt outperforming him, Geo has consistently managed to bring home the bacon whichever direction the market flows.

His particular blend of research, progressiveness and conservatism has consistently paid off, and consistent green numbers are more important that bright greens and dark reds when it comes to consistently building a portfolio.

While my Spirit Guide insists crypto investing is a form of usury, he has asked me to insert a coin into the crypto machine, matching Geo's picks in his chronological order, with the initial objective to retrieve the investment so the rest rides by its own devices, the proceeds of which to be spent wholesomely, with a hedge of 1 ounce of gold per 10,000 bucks if it should ever get anywhere near that high.

A close friend of mine is running for, in essende Dutch Congress. While his party is not mine, I do believe he will have a positive influence on his party, thus I will put my money where my mouth is and vote for my friend. Likewise, my Spirit Guide requests to not just endorse Geo's crypto picks with words but, there too, put my money where my mouth is, and on a modest scale, match it.

What can I say but, Bombs Away!

I want to encourage everyone seriously into crypto investing to do what Geokills does, which is to list their top picks in order of prominence, clarify their reasons for doing so and speak of their results.

GLASNOST - put your cards on the table for us to see and benefit of learning from your earnings and losses.

Make this thread more of a workshop where we can help each other understand all of this better.

We are not in competition, we are the Shroomery Team and the more we can review and help each other make moar money, the moar Shroomerites benefit from the activities here, just like the Gold Train of the late 2000s helped a lot of Shroomerites make a good buck that they wouldnt have made otherwise.

See this thread as a workshop where we all help each other get better at our game.

Don't we want the best shot at becoming a community of billionaires?

Hey thanks for the endorsement Asante, but to be fair, I am no prognosticator, and in the interests of transparency I definitely don't make money all of the time.  It is difficult to make money when swimming upstream, and generally speaking, the best you can do when the market trends against you, is to do less (in conjunction with having incrementally skimmed some profits on accelerated moves higher).  Let's not forget that at this particular point in time, practically anyone who has ever put their assets into the crypto majors is presently profitable.  This rising tide effect can make us all feel a bit smarter than we actually are.

On that note, it seems relevant to update my allocations, since I did in fact completely divest myself of Synthetix (SNX) yesterday, for an aggregate +7% gain, in favor of swapping the bulk of the funds into Solana (SOL), due to both the relative strength in Solana's price action, in addition to their broader application set and higher levels of active development.  As an aside, I also took a small chunk of the proceeds to the bank, as my wife's road bike of the past 20 years suffered a catastrophic failure (fortunately from a stand-still so she did not get injured), and we have acquired a slick new Seven Cycles Axiom SL titanium bike with several upgraded components for her to enjoy, since this is how she achieves the bulk of her physical exercise with daily rides averaging around 30 miles.  I don't cycle regularly, so it was a little crazy to note that this bike cost more than most cars I've purchased throughout my life, however as it will see such regular use, I believe it is a fair investment in the health of both body and mind.

But I digress... onto the crypto!  I'm not going to provide explicit percentages, as I manage multiple accounts, and some have accounting based restrictions preventing me from investing in certain assets which I can invest in on my other accounts.  But generally speaking, from largest to smallest, I've got:
  • BTC
  • ETH
  • DOT
  • SOL
  • XTZ
  • UNI
  • HBAR
  • TZROP
