But gold leaves you with a physical product that then once shaped into a ingrot takes minimal energy to trade, on par with other goods

Silver for example is usually a mining byproduct I think, not the main thing they are mining for, so its like bonus energy

Plus silver is used in solar panels and gold in electronics, so they also have industrial uses other then ohhhhhhh shiney

I believe we digress... this thread isn't really about comparing the relative value of cryptocurrency to any other perceived stores of value.  In the end, all we can do with our limited lives is to operate within the constructs that we create and/or are presented with.

I'm liking this slow creep back to $20K bitcoin.  There do appear to be some aggregate liquidity issues in the space in the wake of the major blowups of 2022, but that's not really unusual for a market that is still sorting out its footing.  I'm still happy to have meaningful exposure to the space, and although I'm not anticipating any rocket propelled rallies anytime soon, I do think that we will ultimately march higher with time.

The animal spirits are definitely perkin' up around here. :yesnod:

SOL back up above $20.  I have a pretty stupid huge bag of the stuff, always kept it staked and on a ledger so I didn't bother to trade it often.  Watched it grow to absolute fortunes (and fortunately took a few tranches off along the run up), but also watched the remaining half round-trip itself.  Although I am concerned about their instability during peak periods, it's kind of the necessary evil of having such a high throughput blockchain environment (i.e. the scalability trilemma), and there are apps that simply cannot be developed on any other chain because of it, which is keeping their developer ecosystem active.

Still HODLin':
  • BTC
  • ETH
  • SOL
  • KOIN
  • XTZ
  • TZROP
  • LUNA (LOL - another fortune lost)
  • HBAR

In anticipation of the rise i tossed a bunch of money into XLM, waited some days andpulled it out again.

Now I have a bunch of free XLM which i will let ride till the end of time, which means in this case a limit sell for €9/xlm

I like to reemphasize to people to keep an eye on XLM and XRP.

There is all sorts of talk to regulate crypto and XLM and XRP are the only cryptos that are ISO 20022 compliant, period, and have people on the ISO 20022 team.

XLM sent a delegation to the WEF and an out-of-the-blue contract materialized :smirk:

Remember that xlm, the people coin, is an offshoot of xrp, the bank coin.

As I have been very thin on cash in my crypto trading accounts (which I admittedly regretted during the FTX blowup), I peeled off an ever so small amount of BTC @ $21,350, to bring my aggregate cash position up to ~11% of tradable capital.  Not to be interpreted as bearish, but out of respect for the big short term move to the upside.

So, to be clear, in your opinion do you see another significant dip in BTC in the near future or do you think it's gonna hold steady at 20k-ish for a while before climbing?  I mean is there another fed thing coming that could cause a dip or anything?  I don't keep up with all that news.

There is no clarity, as there is no way to know, hence why I always try to skim a little off on the rips, and buy a little back on the dips.  Trading around a core position.

Let's just say I wouldn't be surprised to see BTC and crypto in general continue higher, nor would I be surprised to see some give back.  I do think, however, that the bottom is probably in and we aren't going to print a lower low, even if we do flounder around a bit.

As for the Fed, of course if they make super hawkish statements or surprise with larger than expected rate hikes, that's going to put pressure on all risk assets, or which stocks and crypto are primary examples.  Interestingly, one of the drivers of bitcoin's upside moves may more appropriately be understood, not as inflationary correlation, but instead as currency debasement correlation.  It is then not surprising to see bitcoin doing so well in the face of another debt ceiling hike facing congress, even as the high inflationary forces of the past year have resulted in poor asset performance.

That makes sense, thanks!  Need to invest in some BTC soon... Hope it doesn't go up too much before tax refund time.
