I would recommend you find ways to set aside extra money via budgeting. I dont know if there are places you are spending extra, such as fast food, smoking, whatever, that could be cut to make that money available for investing, but if so, do it. After paying down debts to 0, investing in a retirement fund such as a Roth IRA - is always at the top of my list of financial priorities.
$6000 a year if you can manage it, and you can actively trade in it, though you might just be better off grabbing a few blue chip stocks you really trust and like and sitting for 15-20 years. This can be part of an enterily different thread than crypto, but just trowing in my 2c.
As far as crypto goes, if I were you, id stick with BTC and ETH primarily as investment vehicles and go long. Even they are a gamble, but probably the 'safest' of all, and typically produce just as decent financial results as the Alts.

Hey so it kind of depends. You want to keep steadily paying your student loans down (good for you for doing so), but also keep an eye on the coming months as Biden has made statements about student loan forgiveness.
Politics aside (we all have our beliefs), lets just talk brass tax which is that if you are somehow eligible for student loan forgiveness, then you kind of lucked into a great position of having that extra payment money available for investing. Please do your due diligence on this because Biden can talk forgiveness all he wants but even the president is limited in what he can do about it. As someone who paid all his student loan debts down all I can say is lucky you, should that actually happen However I cannot in good conscience tell you to stop/minimize paying down those loans, because there are no guarantees of forgiveness, and because it would be my priority in your shoes. But however you can shave extra money aside for exposure to the markets, and preferably through a retirement account, will only be doing yourself a favor.
It might be worth talking to a financial advisor who can really look at your numbers and offer you advice specific to your financial situation. The $150 or whatever cost is easily saved with a fresh set of experienced eyes that can help you make your money work smarter.

looking at my old purchase charts from coinbase
2 BTC @ $810. Long gone, spent it on hotdogs and steak dinners in Vegas
--------
Just picked up $1000 today. Am going to randomly start throwing money at it. Will never sell BTC again, it either goes to 0 or helps me retire.

ive got an ETH sitting on a wallet, think ill cash it in and wait for BTC to dip. Kind of wanted to get all my ALTs into BTC - which I have a lot of alts heh - maybe this is a small rally that will help maximize their value...
Hard to time it, but selling that ETH now is about a 10x, so how can I really be upset.

currently CB and Bittrex. Doing most active stuff on Rex, more HODL on CB... How about you?
Think this year will be the first I report gains to the IRS, (which makes sense 2020 was the first year I had ever seen crypto gains)

I am wondering, the 2 BTC I bought on Coinbase back in 2012 I transferred to a site called BTC-E. It tanked shortly thereafter and I sold most of it off at a loss, but kept like 1/2 a BTC for hotdogs (cant remember the app I used at the time, but dont have that account anymore).
BTC-E has since been shut down with no chance at obtaining trade records. Is there a chance I could land in hotwater for that 2 bitcoin in the future? I dont think theres anything I can do about the records.

As long as cryptos continue to appreciate in value there will be many winners. I think the market is still young and anyone who puts in the effort to try and understand and invest wisely in the space stands to benefit

I hold some of those coins, but mainly due to poor investment strategy. A more informed myself would have put that money in to the main dogs, BTC and ETH. As it stands now I am simply holding them until I can sell them for a return, which may be never.
I would recommend listening to a podcast called Sane Crypto by Kim Snider. I found her argument for crypto investing compelling and it helped me to better map out a reasonable level of investment risk to take in the space.

Ahhh, well I missed the LINK rise above $20 this morning. This should really be in a trading account so I can set a limit order. Been waiting to sell above $20 for a while. I like the higher highs though and think it’ll be there again soon.
The crypto hype is here, it just needs to translate into the Alt sector. I have a feeling it’s going to come on stronger in the next 2-3 weeks, just need to practice patience and not sell at what I feel are middle levels.

sold my batch of LINK @ 19.25 (finally). As was expected it was far from a perfect landing, but I am ok with near ATH. This is a chunk of cryptos for a card-group of mine, so I have to play it safe in the interest of preserving any gains. My own $ would certainly still be in it right now.
You are right that there seems to be DeFi trend happening here, and maybe its a good time to be in. Time will tell and ill be watching

I followed Geo's move and sold my NEO at $27, glad I did...
Still holding some Alt crpytos, waiting for their upward movement and a decent price to sell, and at the same time continuing to accumulate BTC. 31K is nice but I would love, Love to see it get down to the low $20s again. Would be surprised to ever see BTC under 10k again, but anything can happen in cryptoland.

I’d advise caution with that Enkidu. It’s hard to say what the threshold might be site to site, so do your due diligence. They will also report an aggregate of trades/transfers that surpass the sum of 20k, and that number might be even lower now.
Last thing anyone wants is an angry letter from the taxman.

Owning all the doge in the world wouldn’t make a bit of difference to Elon Musk considering the current scale of his worth. That dude likes to troll with the two minutes of free time he probably has each day. A couple misspelled words and set the world on fire, efficiency at its finest
I am getting ready to sell into this strength, anythng not named BTC. You guys are obviously dealing with much larger scales of crypto than I am - I’ve got maybe 5k at most, so nobody take what I’m doing as logical heh.

sold about 1200 Cardano that was sitting in an exchange. Am about ready to unload another 2000, actually had forgotten that I owned so much of this. Such a great run for that coin of late. Think my aggregate investment was $500 at most

Couldnt be more exicted. My large tranche of ADA didnt sell (hit .70, my order was for .72). I am putting it a bit higher on this news to see where the latest wave ends up. Would not be at all upset if it doesnt hit as the market is nearing that frenzy state and I wouldnt be surprised to see most cryptos jump before cycling down again as they always do.
I am also continuing to keep an eye on Chinese New Year - I remember this date being significant to a sell off in the past, though with the evolution of the crypto asset class this expectation could just be an old relic that no longer applies
