Not sure or the very first sale was at that price when it hit the market and then it went to what ever. Or it is just a glitch.

Enkidu:
You totally misapprehended what I wrote.  There's nothing wrong with your gains or losses (we all have them in a volatile market) it's your MINDSET that needs adjustment, not your portfolio.

I was watching TV with my wife (last Sunday's Bill Maher which I didn't stay up late to watch) and I missed the entire dump.  Didn't bother me at all (except to the extent I'd have bought a bunch of ETH at 1715!) because I didn't even know about it.  This morning, I'm down $315.00 - absolute chump change!  You need to accept this (and the bigger dumps to come) are just NORMAL and adjust your mindset to not care a bit - and just wait.  Like you said above - all better this morning.

You could have spared yourself all that internal turmoil if you just think LONG(ER) TERM like I said.  I wasn't saying you're losing money - I was saying you're losing your mind over things outside of your control that ought not bother you one bit if you look further down the road!  Go back and re-read what I wrote if you must.  My advice isn't so much financial as it is psychological.

A fantastic article self-published by the legendary (and presently fugitive founder of BitMEX) Arthur Hayes, that will take at least a half hour to digest, and I strongly recommend finding the time to chew through it:

TLDR: Long crypto for the inherent inflation risk derived from globally persistent negative real interest rates, and balance that exposure with instruments that can profit from interest rate volatility.

The later can be difficult to source.  For my part, I am considering longer dated put options on the TLT as a more conservative strategy, or possibly long calls on the TBT for a more aggressive strategy.  There are some newer instruments mentioned in the comments of the Hayes article which I will also be looking into, namely TDTF and IVOL.  All of these trades have already started to move.

If anyone has additional ideas here, please share.

I chewed through it and it was all very new jargon to me but I get it. However it seems like it not within feasible reach of an average joe like me to own these options.  I dont even manage my own stocks and IRA. I need a tek for kids on how to buy and store these vol funds.

Quote:

....as a retail or even high net worth individual you cannot buy these exotic options. I have an ISDA with a major dealer, I get face-ripped on OTC options. However, there are many instances where the bank will refuse to show me a price even if I’m willing to cross the spread.

This is why, if you are able to invest in vol funds that explicitly invest in tail risks, do it. It solves neatly for this side of the inflation barbell. If you can’t, options on Eurodollar interest rate futures,or put options on government bond ETFs might be another way to benefit YUGELY if /when policy makers decide to raise rates.

As did I.  Made little sense.  THIS, however is TERRIFYING, MUST READ stuff on BTC and blockchain threats.  IMHO this is a little like putting the plans for a legitimate, functional nuclear weapon on line.  What were they thinking???     See:

https://www.wired.com/story/opinion-bitcoins-greatest-feature-is-also-its-existential-threat/?utm_source=pocket-newtab

As regards ADA (Cardano), the news has already pumped it 17% on the day SO FAR.  The operative words for me are "in the regions where trading is supported" - and I doubt that will include New York.

I didnt know all that about the illegal porn that's somehow embedded into bitcoin for the last 5 years. That's the scariest part of that article that of you had bitcoin on a hard drive that could potentially implicate you in an illegal porn bust.

That seems so far off and wacky to me. Its like; they're not busting everyone or anyone really who torrented music and games even though we were told our houses would get raided.

Even more far off a threat is China forking off their own bitcoin to not have Falun Gong text embedded in the blockchain and anyone giving a shit in the world, same for Disney, I think those days of censorship are coming to an end.

Censorship is archaic it will die off soon, wer living in the Dark Ages of the digital world right now, like it was back when the Catholic church thought it could rule the world forever but failed inevitably because the people will always find the work around, it's like nature taking course

I don't think I'll be able to trade it, so I'm not going to follow it - just to agonize over what I might be missing out on.  I have to do that enough already as a New Yorker.  :mad2:

Sorry for the double post, but this is important.  I think his assessment of the bullish doji is correct.  Under 3 hours to go to the close on the day, and BTC is comfortably above the level to maintain the dragonfly doji and has erased the upper wick.

The ALICE ICO was held in early February (2021) and was sold at a price of $0.10.

A binance listing and a bunch of hype seems to have pushed it to the absolute max. There is a huge NFT craze right now and that seems to have helped it immensely.

It actually launched on binance at $0.10 but within less than 20 seconds it had a massive climb up to $30, within a minute the wick hit $60. Then it settled down to $15 and fluctuated around $15 to $20 even reaching $40 again for a short bit. As I type this its at ~$17. Still an insane increase.

Imagine investing in an ico just 1.5 months ago that does a 150-200x and has enough liquidity that you could sell a massive stash without an issue. Very few people will ever get that lucky that quickly.

I've been trying to catch "new" coins before they blow up. Hit decent a couple times but mostly got fucked for the time being. Most of my alts are hurting my portfolio right now.

I had $100 bucks in ADA already and threw another $600 today at $1.23. Don't think I'll keep it after it spikes though.
