One other quick piece of advice, mick: Don't overtrade!

Money is made during the calm period of patience that exists in between the purchase and the sale.  Hyperactive trading has lost me more money than I'd care to admit (a lesson I've had to relearn time and time again throughout my tenure in the stock market).

In a more specific market note, decentralized exchanges are finding a pretty solid bid here.  Take a look at AirSwap (AST), 0x (ZRX) and Loopring (LRC).  Careful buying into the strength.  While I would recommend having one or few of these on your books, don't feel like you need to pile in all at once right here, right now.  Build positions in names you have confidence in over time, so as to take advantage of market weakness, then scale out as the opportunity presents itself.  Buy the dips, sell the rips.

My allocations as of this afternoon:

  • Cash ($) 16.5%
  • NEO (NEO) 12%
  • Ether (ETH) 11.5%
  • Cardano (ADA) 11.5%
  • Neblio (NEBL) 9.5%
  • WaBi (WABI) 7.5%
  • EOS (EOS) 7%
  • Bitcoin (BTC) 5.5%
  • ICON (ICX) 4%
  • OmiseGo (OMG) 4%
  • VeChain (VEN) 3%
  • Monero (XMR) 3%
  • AirSwap (AST) 2.5%
  • Ripple (XRP) 2.5%

I am taking this advice!

Tonight I am transferring $1000 from my exchange to one for my wife to begin trading as well. She seems excited about it.

Also 5900% :O well played sir!

Is this it for bitcoin? It sure seems like the bubble wants to pop now. If it does I'm probably going to have to sink with the ship.

I was listening to badcrpyto podcast earlier and they had an analyst on there who was saying to expect cycles of BTC dominance and ALT dominance. In short, BTC and its ilk arent going anywhere, and will likely continue to climb as more cash enters the space. If it dips to 11k again and I get (really) lucky on an ALT, I will likely position myself at least half into BTC/ETH, with lesser positions in ALTS.

My big question is that if the markets climb over 1T within the next few months, where will that money be placed? I think there will continue to be a surge in ALTs and gambles for big gains, but ultimately BTC will be the steady rise for years to come.

have been sitting all night wondering if its smart to just consolidate back into some major coins but am going to take the advice of others on here and just be patient with my positions. Alts have been red for going on a week now, and I think if I just hang ill see it go green again soon. Could be a money losing decision, well find out.

How can my coins go up if people can't put money into the market. How can crypto even become widely used if it is a chore to buy and sell them. Everybody is losing money because of coinbase.
Fuck

When I used CB it seems that you can get the money instantly if you pay by credit card. By using your bank that shit takes forever. Does credit card take a long time as well now?

Also, saw a report that the crash couldve been due to some BS news about South Korea shutting down crypto exchanges - sounds like it was isolated to a few shifty exchanges

agreed. i am gonna walk away for a while and not pay attention to the markets. I have lost half the value to my portfolio - which at this point means ive broken even over the past 6 months. Pretty hard to do considering how well the markets had performed.

Shouldve listened to Geo and gone Fiat a week back when he said. Was too bullish.

the thing thats weird about nano s is the limited number of cryptos you can store on one. Why do they limit it to like 3 or 4, when they support a whole bunch? The memory size of the nano is like 200 megs or something ridiculous.

I bought in on DGPT - a token that is supposed to have good development this year and should see an increase in volume and exchanges. My trading group recommended this and said they forecast growth anywhere from $100-300 long term.

that is no guarantee, but might be worth a small gamble. just FYI

FYI - a trading App called Robinhood is about to open Crypto trading to its customers at no cost. Beyond being able to trade on it, I think the 11 or 12 cryptos they make available have a chance to shoot up.

I have the list somewhere, but its most of the big name ones. Will update later

yeah, you have to apply and wait in a queue that is growing quite long - i have no idea why they are adding users slowly to crypto access. The queue is nearly 300k users long atm

I am in

IOST
TRX
XLM
AST
APPC
IOTA
EOS
ICX
MTL
OMG
NEO
DGPT

and a couple others. just waiting for the next decent opportunity to jump out of most of these and get into some longterm positions where I can move to offline wallets and forget about them for a few years.

Why would you get out with a loss? Especially if this was money that you could afford to lose anyways. Do you think this is the end for Bitcoin and blockchain? Seems like a bubble popping to  me, coupled with regulation and manipulation to get the price low. I think it will come back. You already missed your selling point, might as well at least wait for the bounce back.

it was getting to the point that the aggregate of everything i owned was a loss greater than I cared to endure. if it bounces back i am taking what money i have and cashing out completely. if it drops lower ill buy back in.

Thanks for the update Geo. Good to hear there still might be light at the end of that tunnel.

As far as the markets- you are right about maxpain. It hit for me last night. I am not ok leaving the crypto space right now, but man the number of bad decisions Ive made are really adding up. I hear what youre saying about learning from our emotional decisions and applying that knowledge to better future moves. I am trying to get there. At the moment, am just going to stick with my gut that there could be a further dip in the coming days at least, allowing for me to make a strategic move, rather than just 'panic buying' after I just panic sold.

well i got back in late last night thinking the bottom was near - as more of a buy and hold. Geo you are right, to actually time the bottom exactly has got to be like spotting a unicorn. Could have waited just 5 hours more and saved $500. Who knows which direction things will go from here, though down even more doesnt seem impossible.

I will not be selling off anymore positions. Moving forward it is low enough to where i feel comfortable just buying and adding to my portfolio. The next step is to get all these assets off the exchanges and into long term wallets. Man I hope the mistakes are coming to an end...
