I've also spent the evening unloading about 30% of my crypto aggregate back to USD. Several issues are looking toppy, and for fuck's sake I have seen way more gains than I ever thought I would at this point in time. My gut tells me we have lower prices yet ahead, but even if we don't, it is time for me to take some profits, strictly as a measure of discipline. Looks like I'll be paying a good chunk of taxes on my 2018 return.

Psyche delics said: Would you recommend selling at a loss rn? I'm thinking don't panic sell but the price continues to drop and I'm starting to lose money on some coins.
The answer to your question is, it depends. Did you put more money into crypto than you can stomach losing? If so, then you need to sell now. On the other hand, was your original plan predicated on a long term time frame for investment, and did you commit to a level of capital exposure that you were comfortable not needing access to for the foreseeable future? If so, then there is no reason to sell. If you find yourself somewhere in between those two extremes, take as much off the table as you need to in order to feel comfortable with your remaining exposure, even if that means selling at a loss.
There is nothing in the price action as of this writing that indicates the selling is letting up. This could change in the next hour, day, week or month, but there is significant technical damage in the market here and it would not be responsible to expect a snapback to new highs in the short term. If this were the stock market, I would be out of 100% of my trading positions given this tape. But this is crypto, an emerging asset class that necessitates a bit more wiggle room for volatility. That nevertheless doesn't excuse turning a blind eye toward risk management, which is why you need to think very carefully about the considerations elucidated in the foregoing paragraph. Many new investors to the space got caught up in the headlines of what they could have made if they had bought bitcoin last year. This often gets confused with an expectation that buying in now will entitle you to similar future gains. It will not. Those moves have been made, and for all we know, crypto as an asset class may end 2018 with a loss, as those who did get in early and made bundles, look to preserve their capital and book their outsized profits.
Trade carefully, and good luck.

I'm going to suggest that we're just starting the "media attention" part of the chart.
Take this fact into consideration. The total market value for all crypto coins combined is around $500 billion today, that's less than the market cap for Fackbook stock ($515 billion).
The point is that this sector will likely match gold which is around $7 trillion today or even surpass it.

I don't think you need to rush in to buy... anything. If you're shifting assets that are already in the crypto space, ICX does appear to be coming out of a contractive phase and may be starting to perk up, but set your bids at least 10% below the ask because this market will probably come to you. There is nothing in the overall space that compels me to commit new capital right here right now. If I had zero exposure, I would consider legging into some positions here, but as I am already invested and have removed capital from the market over the past months, I just don't see much meaningful upside in the near term, instead expecting volatile sideways chop with a negative bias to persist for months, and that isn't an expectation that warrants being aggressive/overweight.

I sure hope so! Those three (BTC/ETH/XTZ) are by far and away my largest holdings. I really dig PolySwarm's (NCT) game plan, but it was shit timing for an ICO - I placed a sizable bet on that one and am down a cool 90%, which was pretty much how it went right outta the gate (at least it has stabilized). Still holding a decent chunk of NEO, which pays a dividend in the form of GAS, although it's pretty weak @ 1-2% annually. Waiting for my participation in the tZero (TZROP) and Hedera (HBAR) ICO's to gain some traction.
But yeah, BTC/ETH/XTZ are my still my big dogs.

i just sold all my XTZ. I figure its best to get out while im ahead and just chill for a sec. It could continue to rise and maybe I miss out, but at least still made a profit. If for some reason the market dips significantly ill consider buying back in.
participating in that ICO made up for all of my crypto losses, and there have been quite a few over the years. Looking back in the posts, it was Geo who brought the ICO to my attention. Thank you Geo for making me aware of them in 2017. Being selfless with the knowledge you share on here, you do more than you know

The "public" ICO was open to accredited investors and had two primary offerings:
- Series 3A at a purchase price of $0.12 per token with a 8 month restricted period
- Series 3B at a purchase price of $0.096 per token with a 4 year restricted period
I went for Series 3B, which entails four equal distributions over a four year period from network launch. Thus, I have received 25% of my original allocation to date. At the prevailing rate of $0.053/HBAR, I am presently down 45%. The asset had a nice rip higher during the latest bull cycle and Google news. Since I already have a commitment, I won't be buying above $0.04 and would ideally target $0.03 to add to my stake. If we head back down to $0.02, I will be buying in some size.

They think they can stop us buying droogs or force us to dox ourselves with BTC by cutting off local XMR.
One time the Aus guvmint wanted to ban encryption. I'll never forget our then Prime Minister after being told that banning encryption was impossible saying "The laws of mathematics are very commendable, but the only law that applies in Australia is the law of Australia.".
I kid you not.

You should find a way to custody your own vault of ETH, the native currency of the Ethereum network. Understanding you indicated your interest in cryptocurrency "not so much", but ETH has utility far beyond that of a currency. It is - with the potential exception of bitcoin - the most actively developed blockchain platform in existance today. It has been practically solely responsible for the decentralized finance (aka DeFi) renaissance that has in turn brought billions of dollars into the space. As the leading "smart contract" blockchain, Ethereum offers a broad array of application opportunities, and could ultimately live up to its promise of becoming the decentralized internet, unreliant legacy gateway providers and entirely community hosted with no central authority, cryptographic identity solutions, the whole 9. It'll be a bit of a winding road, but Ethereum is impressive, far more than anything blockchain related that is publicly traded through your broker.
PS. BTC > $34K
My next standing sell orders are presently @ $39,000/BTC & $935/ETH.
