Jumpy market, as soon as BTC looks set to move on $40K, ETH and various alts get slammed. Can't we all just get along? Although, this makes me very comfortable balancing the bulk of my holdings between BTC/ETH, as they are clear leadership.

It's very common for limit orders to be filled in partial lots, I've seen it on every exchange I've used (some exchanges will group the individual transactions into a single notation, unless you dig into the more granular ledger on your account). Order books are still rather thin on any given exchange, and so if you have a buy limit, but supply at that level is limited, you can only soak up available supply. This happens in the equity market as well, although is seen much more rarely, due to the nature of the increased liquidity and tighter spreads. But if your limit orders are large enough, you'll see it fairly regularly.
On BTC:
Can't argue with the tape. Volume could improve a bit, but price is back at the highs; sure looks like it wants to break through. It's been about a month since the all time high was printed, which fits into my original thesis of "weeks to months" of choppy sideways consolidation before attempting continuation higher, albeit on the shorter end of the spectrum. I would have expected a little more sideways chop, but investors are clearly still thirsty for this asset.
Such is the nature of assets with large scale adoption catalysts, crypto simply isn't in a lot of hands yet, or at least, not to the degree they would like it to be. Similar action can be seen in the cannabis equity stocks, which are expected to benefit handsomely from rollbacks in federal regulation here in US in conjunction with generally broader acceptance globally. These things tend to keep going higher in anticipation of their increased adoption and use.

Took a month but YFI's volatility finally paid off. Bought at 30100, sold at 42100.

BAND up 18%.

Nice! Do you live there or just extended vacation? My portfolio manager told me that once I move to Costa Rica they may not be able to be my investment strategists anymore. Some stupid federal law... They make me a boat load of money and there's no way I'm going to find anyone else with the performance and sympatico I have with them.
I'm up $6035.78 trading crypto (mostly ETH)in the month of January - basically averaging $550/day with only half of my (now) $25,000 stake invested and half waiting on the sidelines.

I haven't been here in years but I wanted to pop in and say that I saw a poster on here telling everyone to buy bitcoin a long time ago when it was like 250 dollars or something. I checked on it months later and it was over 600 bucks and I was like wow that guy was on to something! "Too bad I missed the boat already" I thought to myself lol.
Anyhow, some of you guys are the funniest most intelligent people anywhere. Props to the shroomery!

There is going to be many different coins and tokens and gas tokens etc. required to process blockchains for all huge varieties of digital services under different parameters and laws to run our civilization better and faster and more efficiently with less mistakes, less cost, and less fraud.
Blockchain is an inevitable superior technology to every current transactional system we've been using, which goes way beyond only the transfer of currencies. Its everything in our functioning digital world.
Different Blockchain currencies are akin to precious metals and the rise of complex metallurgy, the specific application of each metal, the creation and refinement of them in and their current value. Yes very many of today's coins are pump and dumps, currently useless poor dev team coins. Few though are serious blockchain developments with coins that already serving a lot of use and making people's lives easier. And its not Eth or Bitcoin
Gold is what Bitcoin is like. Bitcoin is clunky, slow, expensive, but it's the first, most glamorous, and shiniest crypto of all, but now it's fairly useless, like gold. And its limited in supply.
You could see Ethereum as like the metal Silver, silver we can do more with it than gold, and its also shiny. But there are more useful metals for more WAY MORE applications than just a form of currency to buy shit.
Remember when internet first came out the dotcom era and emails. Nobody thought that would be anything worth investing in. Shopping online was thought of as a joke. It got slammed and it didn't care and rooted itself in under 2 decades because its superior inevitable technology.
In under a decade, blockchain will have well rooted itself in humanity. It took a while for us to get from gold to titanium. It took a while to get from Bitcoin to a properly functional and efficient and useful crypto. Wer just getting started, and banks and businesses and governments everywhere are begining to accept the inevitable shift.
As for trading crypto and gaining profits short term and long term strategy is the way.
Short term is you get in the bullruns early by keeping up with all the news and blockchain dev teams. You pull profits incrementally to restore your initial investment, while buying back in the dips and accumulating good long term useful crypto that is being used by companies like Walmart, Amazon, BMW, IMB, Chinas agricultural sector, McDonalds. These guys are all using blockchain crypto as we speak.
I'm basically going to stick around and continue to accumulate crypto until I'm dead, it definitely will never go away until humanity is finished
Other crypto wont ever be worth as much as bitcoin, like iron or copper isnt worth as much as gold. But a truck load of copper is worth a lot. Imagine you bought those truck loads of copper back when it was super cheap

These charts are insanely useful to help understand where things are moving short term. I marked out in MS paint a bunch of important areas that help up to see the market better. This is last nights dip.
When the purple line goes high above the blue line I made, its selling territory, that's means it's over bought a better time to consider selling. When purple line is lower than the blue line it's under bought and safer to buy
Look at the red and green lines. When they intersect and begin forking that means something is happening and you should pay attention now. I marked each special area with orange line that shows you were the dips and ups are starting. At the bottom of the dip you can see the green and red coming in hot closing in on each other.
When red line crosses above green and creates space between the green and red you be safer to buy there. As you see them coming back together you wait, and when they intersect again and green goes up, and red down, you'd rather want to sell there.
The yellow curvy line represents the strength of the trend. So curvy yellow line goes up, you're more confident in the direction things are moving. Trend line goes down, there's less confidence. When it moves in a straight line things are pretty calm.
When you read this yellow line keep in mind that it sort of has momentum to it, like it only ever hard turns in sharp angles when shits too high or too low, and theres a solid window of opportunity to make your move when you do see it take a hard angle. You can see at the bottom of the dip it really cracks
This might help you because it really gives you an extra bit of vision into what's going on and what's more likely to happen in the short term
This is Tradingview.com and I am using RSI and the ADX and DI indicators.

Cardano (ADA) was one of my larger positions for years, and I made out quite well with them during the 2017 rush. Ended up ditching the project because they were soooooo slow with regard to keeping pace with their roadmap. It almost seemed like the project was dying from a lack of developer interest. I appreciate their peer-reviewed and academic oriented methodology, and if they can keep their development on pace, I agree they stand to be one of the better layer 1 platforms out there. But for now, I prefer Polkadot (DOT) as the "up and coming" layer 1 play.

Thats surprising that CB would offer loans like that. 8% is an expensive interest - and knowing anyone on CB taking out a loan like that is probably putting them right back into the markets. Its like Casinos offering cash advances.
Not saying anyone is thinking about it, but yah dont go doing that. If you really need money, go to your credit union and get it at under 3%.
