Interesting :takingnotes: Like I said I haven't had an issue with the polyfil yet so I don't plan on doing it any time soon (I have so much other stuff to buy) but if I start noticing any contam rates higher than 7% (just my rule of thumb for "definitely a vector of contamination" I need to track down) I'll definitely give it a go.

They do look sexy too....

thought I'd post an update here since it's most relevant and I first showed it here.

Lovin the ease of use with these glass containers and twist 1 piece lids.

Hopefully the condensation on the window on the lid clears after a few days and these are my perfect no pour vessel.
the one on the top is what I was using before and what I used for the window and I will never go back!
oh yeah again no glue was used so these will never break down.

What's on the edges of the lids? Did they melt or something?

I did that with a mini butane torch and my gloved hands.

I bonded the two plastics together by slightly mixing while melted and firmly pressing smooth.

I have no doubt that they are airtight and they've survived 3 pc cycles so I am convinced they shouldn't break down.

Those make great no-pour agar media vessels!

I love using these as well. Especially for multispore inoculation. Lots of area.
Although I don't use filters on any of my no pours, just reversed lids, and they all work fine.

I once herd that method of gas exchange referred to as "hippy flipping", so that's what I'v called it ever since.  I also used to hippy flip the lids, but it gave me problems.

It wan't until I discovered that air will enter, and exit through the point of least resistance, and adopted the idea of "wanting nothing, but filtered air entering my media vessels" that I begun taking measures for filtered gas exchange, and enjoying a 100% success as a result.  Started at tyvek, and worked my way up to synthetic filter disks.

 I will have to use that term from now on.
Yes I have thought about that as well but honestly I have had no mold contamination on my agar since starting this way. I experience bacterial contam from ms from time to time but thats about it. I use a SAB.
I will admit though, those look far more visually appealing and seem like theyd be easier to work with than rings.

Around my parts a Hippy Flip is when you mix mushies and molly. Kinda like a hippy version of the Candy Flip.

I have been trying the powder and it hasn't out so well. It slows some bacteria, but doesn't phase some. Let me know what kind of luck you have with the liquid please.

That's pretty cool.  Makes sense too, because black tea does have anti bacterial properties.  Have you ever used black tea as an anti-body in your agar before?

the antibacterial qualities don't overwhelm the bacterial qualities of tea. leave a bag of black or green tea out for 2 days after sterilizing it in some boiling water to make tea

I found warning about that shit being bad for human consumption as an antibiotic. I need to check out the 2 local farm stores. I know one used to sell penicillin, maybe they got gentamiacin as well. My powder may be old and weak. I never expected a miracle, just wanted it to slow that clear oily bacteria, but that shit is resilient.
