Nate is right of coarse, but I will tell you that if the phenomenon in question has any sort of coloring to it other than clear, it's contaminated. Not water.
I have the same contamination in my APE plates, and I'v seen it before.

oh course it does. thats the way societies evolve. it just needs to be pushed in a better direction. drugs give people that push.. good drugs at least. and then people will fuck that up too and the cycle repeats.
but at least we have tripping. thank jebus some ancient fucking people randomly ate and smoked some random shit lying around.

HEY just an FYI on what could or could not be bacteria. MUSH keep an eye on that, I have been fighting a battle with some ninja ass bacteria for months, and honestly I have had that "ring" on some of my plates. I am still not decided if that is bacteria, or if it is something to do with the culture. I have recently started using green food coloring, man am I glad I did. That clear ass bacteria stand out much better. Some bacteria will make parts of the agar change shades of green alerting me that some thing is up. I don't seem to get mold in my plates, except on fresh germinations, but this bacteria is fucking haunting me. I hope one of my new varieties will clean up fast.

So the media color changes as it is consumed by contams or mycelium? Might be worth a shot to try. I'm going to transfer the suspect spots later. I'm wondering if my sterile work just sucks. I've been considering getting a tyvek suit for bags and putting them over my sab holes to minimize and such. I usually lose one or 2 plates when poured.
My holes also might be too high I end up resting my arms on the holes. Which could make things fall or create a vacuum (minimal) and pulls air in. Lol mush alot of people died figuring out what's good and bad good on them sacrifice for the better good (in the long run)

It's either your sterile technique, or your inoculum is dirty.

I do pour agar and if I pour too hot, I get condensation. Sometimes that condensation dries up and leaves streaks just like what you are describing. They never grew so I chalked it up to that. If I pour my agar when it is cooler, I don't get the condensation on the surface of the agar and I don't get the spots.
Transfer a piece and you'll know for sure. Just make sure to place it on the new agar dish surface side down since bacteria doesn't travel through agar like mycelium does.

RR talks about the greasy looking bacteria in the agar section of his Mushroom videos.
When you leave this contam long enough it turns milky in appearance staying greasy looking, as well.
My contaminated plates that have this infection are in half pint, squat jar, no-pours with a white, plastic lid, or I'd go into the lab, and snap a picture of it for you all.

Interesting
This is why I've been considering changing the colors of my media. Green or crystal clear.
Oh here's examples of my technique
Pouring
Taking a transfer and dropih wedges from an over grown plate.
I've been leaning towards my innoculent lately plus a few things that are being fixed. I was having problems with my technique a month or so ago possibly bacteria started riding on my mycelium.
Dawg
I pour at 120°f
My plan is to take 2 Petris one with the questionable section one without. And squirt sterile water in them if it's bacteria it should follow the water across the dish. The other nothing should happen and I'll compare to see if it's visually just water marks.

No I think it is more the color of some bacteria obscuring the green of the agar.

Hey just an idea for anyone else wanting to learn to pour agar. Mushboy had mentioned the hardest part was not being able to practice lifting the stack to pour. Well I used a stack of my wide mouth plastic lids and a jar of colored water to "practice" a bit last night. Even stuck it in the SAB so I could get a feel for restricted movement while doing it. The lids, turned up, don't set properly if your don't focus, but with control set fine. I would think good control is needed for this. It at least got me used to the feel of lifting a stack. If I had more than 2 sleeves I would have sacrificed a sleeve for practice, but this worked to. I now feel more comfortable with the idea and will now pour a stack soon.

EDIT** Looking back through threads it was someone else, I must have been baked to think it came form you LOL, I need to go hit the bowl.
I could have sworn it was you like 2 days ago, fuck I may have gotten the wrong screen name. One of you fuckers said the hardest part of jumping into pouring agar was not being able to practice as once you pop the lid they aint sterile no more.

What's the method to inoculating 15+ jars in a session with one LC? I plan to add half a cup of water to my super ez LC of PE clone and do all my jars with that. Just do it like blenderless LI and pour it? Between 15 jars?
