Screw Leviticus. Screw him right in his ass. Why is it that every time you see a radical Christian with shit for brains ideas, chances are good that they're quoting Leviticus? I'd be curious to know how the religious prohibition of shrimp came about, but I'd bet that it has something to do with a context that is completely irrelevant in our society today.
That site is hilarious. "Yea, even Popeye's shall be cleansed. The name of Bubba shall be anathema." I love to see people ripping the ignorance of *some* Xtians.

I heard it has something to do with them being bottom-feeders. In other words, they eat shit.

Ya. The Bible quotes given are real, tho. It's sort of poking fun at Christians who talk about how homosexality is an abomination by pointing out that the Bible says eating shellfish is an abomination too. I remember in one episode of Futurama, they were going to a Bar Mitzvah or something, and one of the Jews there stops Dr. Zoidberg at the door and says "No shellfish."

i know a catholic deacon who is a mystic (ok, a confessed heretic) anyway, she says that these rediculous old testiment spawned laws werecreated by the leaders of the nomadic colonies to protect them from illness and disease. shellfish would lead to red tide (toxig algaie, cloving) poisoning, certain meats caused other disease.
intersting how cloving poisoning was the term for eating bas shelfish and it was also abominable to eat animals not cloven of hoof who to not spread toe. (or something equally mutated and misconstrewed over time
in my oppinon the tribe leaders ought to have written these things on a cows ass and not in the holy scriptures. because times change and keeping outdated sanitation measures holy leads to stuff like republicans.
eventually a cow dies. but republicans hibrinate in your ass like cockroaches till you get afraid of intercultural conflict, then they crawl out and start talking to you....... ok, i guess that makes them worse than cockroaches.
im drunk now, so ill just stop and foul up some worthless thread elsewhere, maybe OTD

Leviticus is in the Torah, i.e. Old Testament. It's a Jewish text and a lot of Jews still follow the dictates. They're nutty too. No, when the Christian nuts really go crazy is with Revelations, which some say were a product of John the Baptist's ingestion of hallucinations. Say it aint so!!!!!

No one knows who wrote the Book of Revelations. Most likely it was some anonymous "John" not mentioned anywhere else in the Bible. It seems to have been a rather common name back then.

your not supposed to eat pork either right?
most of the stuff is taken out of context anyway...you cant just look at one verse and try to interpret it..you have to read the whole book and then try to interpret it.
the book of revelation is awesome...its all symbolic...but my familly is souther babtist so they thing that jesus is actually conna come on a horse. I was like the only reason john said that was cause he didnt know wtf it was and he just described what he saw in words he knew.
