The procession of time as a series of discrete moments or time slices is basic to the physics of the universe in which we live. the size of the slices is arbitrary.
Our minds perceive the passage of time by noting changes in our experience of the world.
We can remember sequences of things quite accurately because we experience the trailing edge of one (arbitrarily sized) perceived moment while the next moment is being sensed. In that way each perceived moment has the shadow of it's predecessor linked to it in memory.
Then there is the slight matter of mental states: eg. when in a stoned mental state, our mind becomes more resonant, so moments actually last longer, so the lingering previous moments persist while new ones are being perceived, forming a stack of frames of experience in time.
Every moment that is buffered in mind is still technically now in the experience; and when really quite stoned you may have 3 seconds or more of things sustained and overlapped, and each slice of time is equally valid!
In such scenarios time can be perceived to go backwards or forwards or stand still. Recycled moments can seem to be endless.
So this is not exactly about a philosophical sense of non-linearity but rather about a direct engagement with non-linear experiencing of time as an artifact of frame-stacked experiences that are fading more slowly than normal.
We could say it is a point of 'philosophical' interest.
yeah, but sometimes when we're tripping we think we're fusing into a couch. Doesnt mean it actually happens. I think that, like the material world, time has a definite structure to it (the expanding universe thing earlier also intrigues me) and, also like the material world, we simply are able to perceive it different depending on our mental state. I dont believe we live in some sort of singularity, everything happened at once, just our brains perceiving it as linear. It just doesnt make sense to me

A tripper's souvenir insight often wants to make it all the way back into scientific theory.

Might being stoned cause a reduction in resonance?
As in the difference in rippling between throwing a stone into water, and maple syrup?
