Growing Questions (Beginner Sorry)
    #24279480 - 04/28/17 06:22 PM (7 years, 8 months ago)

I have a few questions about growing Mushrooms via Kit.
https://azarius.net/smartshop/magic-mushrooms/grow-kits/mushroom-grow-kit-easy-ecuador/
(Cambodian)

Question 1.
Once the Mycelieum has grown, should it be separated into smaller (cakes?)or should they be kept as one big block? For example, if someone wanted to put 1/2 of the Mycelieum in a plastic tub and another in a plant pot, would that effect the 'Fruiting' results?

Question 2. Is there a way to speed up the growth of Mycelieum?

Question 3. Would a spot by a boiler (With clothes etc) be an ok place for the Mycelieum to grow? (Luke to warm temperature) would they risk being contaminated? (clothes etc)

Thanks for reading :-) sorry if these have been answered before, I have been searching and could not find a real answer to my questions.

And last question, once they start to grow, would I be able to clone/grow more via spores that they drop?

1- idk
2- no. It will do what it wants when it wants
3- room temp is perfectly fine. Too warm invites bad shit to grow
And yes you can take spore prints and or clones. Enough to last your lifetime of growing if you wanted to

Thanks very much for awnsering cloning question / heat question.
I'm sure we could just leave it to 'Do what it wants when it wants' but we could also not. :-) We wouldn't have some modern day medicines etc if we let the substance do what it wants, when it wants

I might try singing to it. Hey, it helps flowers grow. Why not.

Yes but by adding heat to "speed things up" will let bacteria and other nasty grow faster than the myc. The myc needs to grow first and strong so it can have a chance to fight off the nasty bacteria and stuff all throughout the growing process. That's at least how I understand it. I'm sure someone else will chime in. Checks this guys links out. Great reads for everything

Ah I understand now. I wasn't necessarily saying add heat. Thanks for the link will check that out!

I'm interested how the rye converts into mycelium? Or  does it just 'grow from' it? / 'Feed from it'?

What if I put it in a completely sterile environment, and crank up the heat? There would be no other bacteria (Maybe some in the Rye?) to contaminate it?

I was very wrong:

"
Mycelia are the growing parts of a mushroom fruit. The mycelia resemble white hairs that extend into the growing medium. From these small hairs sprout the fruits of the mushroom which are then harvested. It is the mycelium that absorbs the nutrients needed to produce a mushroom for harvest. Lack of nutrients or errant bacterial growth can inhibit the growth of the mycelium. Many times the growth of mycelium is based upon how well the material for the growing medium is prepared. If mycelia are disturbed, they may become infected and die."
