Sorry to bore you all with my generic grow Here is my setup
The cakes have been in the sgfc for 3 days now. I've misted and fanned three times a day and have the chamber on a 12/12 light schedule. One thing that I've noticed is that patches of mycelium are growing through the verm in various splotches. You can see it in the first pic but heres a better shot.
I presume that these patches of mycelium are where the pins will show up (?)
If you notice anything that I can improve on please let me know

1. I suggest straightening out the aluminum. Cupping it will just cause water to pool under(related to obstruction of airflow) and increases risk of bacterial growth ime. 2. No. I think that's just it consuming the verm and spreading. Pins usually look like tiny knots/beads.

When I made the aluminum dishes I was under the impression that bottom watering was beneficial once cakes put out a pinset. Earlier today I was digging deeper into this and a lot of people are against it. I don't really know what to think since some people vouch for bottom watering and act as if it's mandatory while others are very much opposed to it. I think I'm just going to take your advice and toss the bottom watering dishes. Thanks for the tips brother

Bottom watering works after -
There is a massive pinset
There are large fruits on the cake

Think of it as a way to give extra water to a cake when its starting to dry out because all the water is going to all the large pins/fruits. Its like a mini dunk inside your chamber that re-hydrates it so water isnt the limiting factor on what the cake produces.
I seem to have gotten higher yields but i dont have a stabilized strain so it could all be bs and in my head. Either way, it didnt hurt my cakes at all compared to when i would not bottom water.
