Plan of action

Stop being a POS.
Work on sterile technique 1 out of 15 is too many.

Take some clones from wat I got.
Clean them up put them to grain. Test expand into li or LC if LI is done g2g the good jars.

I almost trashed everything I have today and started back to spores.

So is it just me or is PE slow to mature? I'm fine with it, but with the veils opening quite a few days ago, I figured they'd be done by yesterday. Today they still look beautiful and look like they still have quite abit of growth to go. Is this normal or just me?

Yes, slow.  And the veils don't matter.  Look for gnarly bumps under the cap and also a lightening in color of the cap itself.

Need help to decide what to do with this bin, pick all the shrooms from the bottom of the bin and ruin the sub, or leave them there and keep harvesting? I just don't want the mushys on the bottom start to rot and contaminate the bin. Pleaee help and tell me how I can prevent this

EDIT: Josex indicates that my personal experience over the last 19 years is bullshit so disregard this deleted section.

I would think you could carefully get that sub out, harvest, and get it back in if you're a ninja.  After a flush the substrate is surprisingly dense and holds together.  You'll definitely have to case it again if it was cased, because that will dump off when you get it turned over. What I would suggest is just tipping the bin on it's side and helping the substrate "fall" over onto the side of the bin.  You can then reach in and harvest, and then hinge the substrate back into place as you tip the bin back upright. I'm not sure that leaving them there is that big of a deal either, tho.

To prevent this, you have to prevent light from getting to the underside of your substrate.  Black plastic liner or painting the bottom and lower 6 inches black, or something like that.

It's ok to spread bad info, we all did that at some point, just try not to do it again and talk either from experience or from a solid acquisition of knowledge through research when things cannot be demonstrated easily in an empirical way. People come here to get good advice and guidance and this is a public forum where any piece of bad info can mislead lots of people.

Light has nothing to do with side/bottom pinning, use the search function if you want to learn more.

To answer Skitzomushman's question, you can harvest the whole lot easily, no need to let those shrooms decay or ruin the substrate.

Harvest the fruits from the surface first, then introduce an empty tub inside the fruiting tub, flip it over, take the first tub off and harvest the sides and bottom, like this:

Rinse the first tub, introduce it again in the second tub and flip it over to its original position.

You aren't gonna break the sub if you do it this way, but if for whatever reason you accidentally do, dunk the sub for a long time, get it nice and soggy, get the water out and then simply put it up together with your hands the best you can. If your spawn was healthy, the myc will knit the sub together in no time and fruit again without problems.

Josex, I resolved my issues with side and bottom pinning by stopping light, so from personal experience I believed the info to be true.  My deepest apologies if this is not the case.  I will delete my post to prevent this cancer from spreading.  I recommend you remove it from your quoted version as well...just to be safe.  Lol.

 Can you link to the tek? Never seen it, it's a very easy solution and sure as heck this has been done before zillions of times. I just had to get a tad creative, fucky KSSS does that to you.

Yes it's bad info, using a plastic bag as a liner will prevent side pinning, not the lack of light. A clear liner that lets light through will have the same effect as a black one.

The liner sticks to the substrate as it shrinks, preventing the sides and bottom from getting enough air which is necessary to pin.

But your 'cancer' post continued to advice him that he should take the sub out carefully 'ninja style', which is a sure way to break it apart, so someone had to intervene, and it was super Josex this time in his mild and polite version.

Cheers mate, don't let the butthurt flow through you

Thank God you stepped in.  That was a close call.  And I stopped my side and bottom pinning by going to opaque trays (back in 1998) that stop the light...which is also a requirement for pinning.  Since I don't line trays with any kind of plastic, plenty of air gets in.

Light does not create side pinning.
Poor surface conditions do

Awesome thanks alot! I will definitely try that that's a great idea. Never even thought out that. I'll post a picture of how it turned out. Btw any idea how to prevent this from happening?  I'm ma king 2 more bins today and don't want to run into this problem. Some reasons I think this might have happened are 1 my bins are on a concrete floor covered with a few blankets so the floor is not so cold, 2 no plastic liner or way to block light, 3. I may have mixed my spawn to much with the sub when I made the bins and alot of the sweds might have gone to the bottom so that's where they fruited. Idk if those would be the biggest reasons this happened or the only causes. But if you could she'd some more light to my situation it would be very apreciated
