Am I destroying my house?

My mom came for a visit the other week and put a bug in my ear that just won't crawl out. I know this sounds stupid, which is why i brushed it off at first, but I can help but worry about my most expensive possession...
according to my mom, having a humid grow room for my fruiting chambers will destroy and rot the walls in that room. at first i thought that was the dumbest thing i had ever heard because obviously there are homes built in hawaii and florida which are extremely humid states, so surely a guest room in a standard family home should be unaffected by a humid room, right? Or perhaps there is something about the contrast of having a humid room in a much drier house that is the cause for concern....?
can I get a 2nd opinion or 5 here?

It can be a big deal if the moisture is not properly contained yes. Peeled paint, split wood, and rot are all easy to happen.

Dumb. Generally only the fc is humid, and barely at that. If I havent ruined any walls by now, you surely wont

people run household humidifiers for health reasons
You do see mold growing in bathrooms around here because of the showers, this is mostly in poorly ventilated apartments though.
Are you humidifying a whole room or doing FC's? Just FC's are no problemo

Hell no. Unless you have managed to have such a massive grow that you are keeping the entire room maintaining humidity.

It depends on the humidity level, moisture barriers, ventilation, climate, etc. Too many variables to give a direct answer. It is a possibility, but not high probability.
I have seen basic renovations where people did not vent eaves or have any room ventilation and mold was able to take hold.
I think it is a degree of severity. 20-30% in a room with sgfc or monotub chambers should be fine.
If I was humidifying an open room to 95%, I would be worried too.

Yes dry wall can mold and rot.
They make a green moisture resistant dry wall.

Depending on your goal most FCS for edibles are entire rooms with maintained rh. If you really wanna do all that just make a giant green house in a room with proper ventilation to the outside.

There's no reason to humidify a whole room unless it is exclusively for fruiting

thanks for the replies everyone. i do use a humidifier in a somewhat small grow room (its also the guest room) to keep my FC's from drying out too fast. i would guess it raises the humidity in that room to no more than 40%. sounds like many of you think thats a totally safe level, as i suspected.

Moms are usually retarded about shit like that. They have aprilair systems on furnaces to make whole houses 40% RH and comfortable
