Cheapest Agar Containers

Pasty's agar tek/grocery store tek/ cheapest possible agarAlright so I located 8 pack ziplock mini containers for like 2.50 each or something. Very cheap and all locally obtained. I used agar-agar brick from local Asian store, as well as powdered laboratory grade agar, and standard telephone brand agar powder(my favorite and cheapest). I drilled 1/4th inch holes into each lid twice. Once in the middle and once on the outside. Through trial and error I THINK that when I drilled the hole in the middle it caused about 4/24. 16% failure rate is not something to be proud of. Anywho the 4 that didn't work won't let the lid clip down over the tyvek. All the rest are awesome. The ones that wouldn't "work" only 3/4 corners would clip down on the plastic container. 1 would just refuse to go. Some I put the RTV in the middle like the picture below. Sometimes I put it on the side to test what would work best. I also made an effort to fill the open area between lid and tyvek with RTV as you can see. I knew the RTV doesn't like to grip to plastic unless I sandpaper it which I was feeling lazy but it seemed to work. Any recommendations on how to lower my failure rate? I'm gonna make 100 once I feel comfortable with the method. I can get Petri dishes local 12$ for 10 large I believe. Glass mason jars are awesome but pricey when I wanna do large scale agar experiments. I have 6 different prints, different strains, I'd like to isolate a sector from. I injected 2-3 drops of LC into each agar container. Shouldn't be long now I still have maybe 200 CC of LC in 35 CC syringes left. Just tryna get rid of it cause it seems the syringes I put it in don't hold the liquid in very well...I just wanted bigger syringes

I like using Petrie doses, easier to store. Here's a good place to get them at a good price:

Yea but reusable is more work. Try cleaning out 100 dishes
I put three bottles of agar in my PC and then pour 60 plates How many PC cycles to get enough plates to put 6 varieties of spores to plates?

100 minis is a shit load.
this is a bitch and this is what? 25-30??

trying to do 6 different isolates would probably take about 300 transfers. at least. so id go with pouring your own dishes. a box of 500 petris is 80bucks. shop around.
mini rounds warp after a few cycles too. making the lids kinda worthless unless you tape them down.. as for filters.. just use MP tape. that injection port shit is noobish and pointless. just use 1 hole. 2 layers or tape. you pop the lids open to do transfers. you only need 1 plate to germ spores on. dont mod hundreds of lids like that
whats with the red striped stuff under the lid in the pics? you have THAT MUCH LC? how did you make it?

I like the 2 oz jelly jars. They're $10 a dozen, reusable forever, and the boxes stack neatly. Rotating among 5-6 dozen plates is no problem. I always have sterile, ported plates on hand. Being able to grab and inject plates on a whim just makes everything so much easier for me.
No lab waste, either. Plastic petris consume 3 squares of Parafilm every time you open them (1.5 squares if cut lengthwise), and you also have to dispose of the petris. It takes 3 seconds to wash a tiny jar.

The red stripes is from tyvek envelopes. Never tried it but figured I'd go for it. I have SFD. Can you just cut them into smaller pieces since it's so pricey or stick with the tape? I have polyfil but I hate it Well I have 4 pint mason jars of corn syrup/water with magnetic stir rods. I have 300 CC of sterilized water I injected into a beyond clean colonized rye jar. Shook the shit outta it then sucked it back up. Tested it multiple times. Basically using dunk water to do it. One quart jar makes 8 35cc syringes full of it. And each syringe literally is full of white long mycelium strands

I now have 8 cube variety and one exotic cleaning on agar. I'm kicking myself in the ass, cause it's a pain in the ass, but hey not going to toss them now, just never going to clean more that 2-3 at a time.

I guess I shouldn't of ordered so many prints... you know it's funny cause I complained they were too small. This batches prints are so big idk what the fuck do with all of it. I made 100 12CC syringes in one night. I only finished 4 prints. Each syringe is so thick you can see it

IMO don't put them into a syringe unless your going to use in a couple weeks. I feel the water in the syringe allows bacteria on the spores to breed. I like to keep a print until closer to use.

I have seen bits of gill tissue and veil tissue on prints. Would this not, should some get in there, feed some bacteria, or and I just paranoid?

buying plates by the case comes out around $0.10 per plate, cant beat that
no way i could do 200 pp5 plates in a day, but with disposable plates its totally doable
