What does bacterial contamination do?
    #24274521 - 04/26/17 09:29 PM (7 years, 8 months ago)

...to the fruits? Many here simply take spores, noc a jar inside a bathroom or laundry room, wait for jars to colonize and then fruit them. If these jars happened to have a sneaky bacterial contamination, would this affect the fruits?

Reason I ask is: bought some shrooms off a guy several times over the course of the year. Took these shrooms and was super nauseous every time. It wasn't until i took a heavy heavy dose (11g) and smoked some reefer did the sick feeling subside.

Bc that was my last dose, I do not know if it was the high dose that relieved the nausea or the reefer. I do know the grow was multispore and the shrooms were not potent(hence the ability to take 11g) So i wondered if the grower was just a noob who had bacterial contams in his jar and fruited.??

Sorry for the long post, had to get the details in.

All mushrooms growing outdoors are growing on contaminated substrate. Unless the shrooms were bendy and half dried or visibly nasty there's nothing wrong with them even if grown on bacterial substrate

I would get some bacterial contams here and there. It would might take a little longer for colonizing and fruiting but as far as the fruits were concerned they looked fine, smelled fine, tasted fine, and produced an effect that was equally as fine. Just about as potent as all the other batches with no visible contam
Sure it's better to have as little contams as possible, bacteria really shouldn't hurt a grow at all. I wouldn't contribute it to a bacterial contam at all.
