Show me your AGAR no pour containers

I use these from big lots to do all of my agar in the pressure cooker but I'm always looking for something better and easier to use, I'd like to see what everybody is using for their agar work and hopefully a link or a store to buy them from

what a coincidence! I just fabricated my own screw top clear lid no pour today using cutouts of the lids from those containers you are using...

I am still using the ones you have for the time being though until I see if I like these better.
Just like the screw cap better I think.
I'm used to melting plastic to make random things and bonding two plastics together. I made this lid in under 3 minutes using a propane torch two different sized cans and my heat resistance gloved hands for pressing to bond the plastics together.
no glue or hole saws although i'm sure they would work too.

Yeah if these had screw on lids they would be perfect.... Id even like to see glass containers, anything thats not the standard Petri dish that can withstand the pressure cooker

oh yeah missed the pp5 part sorry.
Anyway I've searched far and wide and these two seem to be the best solution.

^4 ounce jars. Or the classic half pint wide mouth pf jars for better visibility.
the 4 ounces are nice and compact. Think I might start doing half pints again though, the quilted surface on the 4 oz's really does suck..
I know you said pp5 but thought I'd throw these in the ring as they're all I use (though I've tried plastic)

Not great for visibility, but otherwise awesome (will try pic later, mentioned somewhere in pasty huge thread). From Dollar tree, 10 in a pack, little more than 2 oz translucent containers with white lids. Punch hole in side rather than top. Skip tinfoil. 60+ containers in a 16 qt pc. No concerns over containers not sitting flat (like with tinfoil) as they stack nice and stable). Dime a piece and maybe 30-45 seconds of effort (punch ge hole, cover hole with micropore, load agar).

ball has those 4 oz jars without the crystal quilted sides but they are more expensive.
I like the extra room for growth with wider containers but those 4 ozers are really good for spore germ and xfers. As well as the 2 oz dollar tree containers frankn beans is using.
They'll still do fine noccing up grains I just like as much myc as possible to work with.
The kerr wide mouth 1/2 pints are pretty good too.

Whatever happened to those glad twist and lock 8 ounce containers the really teeny ones that have the twist on blue lids They were super cheap I see them on eBay now but God they're like 10 bucks for three of them now

Yeah I found them super cheap like 10 cents each at grocery outlet but didn't have enough cash to buy them out.
Went back the next day and they were all gone.
I did use them for agar a couple times but I ended up using them as containers for brf cakes for slurry.
Still have a few I'm not using if you want some pm me. The sides are not very easy to see through is my problem with them for agar. I'm pretty picky about visibility though.

I looked for hours the other day and a lot of that time on ebay looking for containers like that.
Wish they had it in more like 8 oz or something.

Lol +5 for having a sense of humor
BTW I know it's kinda off topic for what you are asking, but it's worth considering pouring plates if you do a lot. It comes out way cheaper and way easier in the long run
You can get 500 plates for 60$ and easily pour, inoc, and wrap a couple hundred plates a day, that's how I do it
Comes out around $0.11 per plate, and is conducive to large volume work, and makes for way better photos

I'm saving these up right now, as I feed them to my 5 month old. And I have the typical glad minis. I'm going to make the baby jars injectable too.

i still do plates.. thats why i had to clean those. im learning petris.. dealing with the learning curve of pouring and satellite contams around the perimeters.
500 was 70 plus shipping. 60mm. just like a miniround.

Yea I got 20 sterile petri, I need to learn to pour, but I really kind of want to wait till I can build my flow hood. I guess I could do them in my SAB, let them set for a while before attempting to use so to see if they got contaminated during the pour.

i LOVE using proper equipment, no way in hell i could do 200 pp5 plates in a day, its no sweat (not too much at least) with real ones
i use the 90mm kind, and keep 3 cases on hand at all times
you can get them for $50-$70 per 500ct case, or around $0.10 per plate... between that and parafilm, it makes agar a joy to work with
hey mush you might want to try using a damp towel in the bottom of your SAB (fresh each session) and work on a cookie rack 2-3" above it. also lightly mist the walls with water or soap+water. this traps contams and makes em way less likely to get stirred up by your hands
that 1 change (the towel i misted the walls both ways) brought my SAB success rate from 95% to 99% (i actually tracked it, did several thousand plates each way)
one really good thing about pasty plates, especially for SABs, is the REALLY high plate walls (by comparison to real dishes), this is really helpful in a SAB because the opening is much higher than a standard plate, and thus is further from where all the contams are concentrated (on the horizontal surfaces on the bottom)
this is the same principle we are leveraging when using the cookie rack, just getting the entry to the plate further from the contams
