HELP! Is this grain jar contaminated?

I was just about to pour in this quart sized rye grain jar to my first ever bulk grow attempt. I only have 2.5 colonized jars to put in it, so I assume I can't afford to not put one of them in. However, when I was giving this one a sniff just before I dumped it in, it seemed just slightly off odor, reminiscent of blue cheese. My nose is by NO means the greatest though so I would like some input from the shroomery as to whether these grains are bruised or contaminated:

Some details please. Did you just shake those jars? Looks like it. What size tub? What size jars?

I don't see any myc, so if it had been growing something, it's not mushroom, especially with that smell

Yeah "bluecheesy" smell is definitely not a good sign. Should smell like fresh mushrooms....

The tub is a 44 QT sterillite weatherproof plastic tub. I used roughly one brick of coir (though it's hard to tell because I got it in bag form and had to weight it out), about 2ish quarts of verm, and maybe a half pint or so of gypsum. As of now I have one and a half jars already mixed in and it looks good but I'm certainly no expert. The jars were shaken just minutes ago. They were all inocced from the same master jar, in a near air-tight glove box and left to colonize for 9 days. As for grain tek, I followed standard procedures to the tee as I did with the master jar. As for other options, I currently have three more jars colonizing at the moment but they were just inocced about two or three days ago. Could I possibly let this tub sit with the one and a half jars it has now, and simply add another jar or two of grains when they're ready?

I should have specified the jar was shaken just moments before this image was taken

Sadly, I don't think I do. But I do have an image of one of the other jars that it looked indistinguishable from:

That was actually the master jar if I remember correctly

Well, even if you use 2.5 quarts of spawn, if they are indeed usable, the spawn ratio sounds pretty low for a 44 qt tub. I'm thinking 4 jars for a tub that size. Low spawn ratio will take more time to colonize and allow more time for contamination to take hold.
You are this far in, I say go ahead and learn from the experience, and plan out your next project a little better.

The left side of that pic, looks like the jar is struggling to colonize....

I am always open to learning experiences. Do you suggest I toss in this third jar or just see if the other ones do anything useful?

This is what the tub looks like right now. Barely filled up with any sub. You can see the grains. This is 1.5 jars, does that look to be too low a ratio?

How deep is your sub? That size tub could take 4 jars easy. Also, what tek are you following for that tub? I'm not sure what that is.....does not look like a mono tub to me.

Don't guess, you want to measure. You can mark the inside of the tub for reference. Masking tape or something you can remove. You want a minimum of 3 inches. 3 to 4 is good.

Perhaps I should look into trays... ironically enough, the reason I decided to leap up to tubs instead was because they seemed more simple somehow xD

No problem man you will get there. Shoe boxes in a SGFC work well. I like these containers. You can fit 3 in a 66 quart FC.

Ahh good question. It's called Hydrostone. It's like perlite only larger pieces. You can mix with perlite or use all by itself. Works great and help with passive airflow. I got it at a hydroponics store.

Update! Any smell of contamination has completely disappeared from the tub and it now only smells like fresh coir. On top of this the grains are visibly beginning to colonize. Could it be that whatever was contaminating it actually just died off? I wasn't sure that was possible but if so I'm not complaining!
