My casing has gone south

So this mono tub was looking sexy as fuck, then comes my casing.... The casing is coir and verm. 3/4th an inch deep. The casing has been on 4 days now. Im sure this tub is out swimming with the fishes. The voices in my head tell me to take this outside, and throw it in some tall grass, in the shade, and pray god blesses me with a few monsters. Is there any voices out there have a way I can save myself? Pappa needs to eat!

That looks really wet. Was it fully colonized when you cased it? I would fruit it, give it a lot of FAE and hope it dries out. I can't tell if the color looks weird or not on my screen.

Yes, it does. The casing was originally going to be strait coir, but I had added too much water, so I did add the verm to absorb it. After mixing it together, I would make a softball size ball, and applied pressure, and no water dropped out.

Yea I can honestly say I know that is to wet cause I fucked up like that once. Get that thing some air to evap some of that water and hopefully trigger fruiting.
You may not have squeezed enough. Also 3/4 inch is a little bit think, specially for cubes since they don't really need cased. 1/4th to 1/2 is generally accepted as appropriate.

Dang yeah you must have gotten the water content jacked up even with adding the verm. May I ask why you cased in the first place?

This is good advise. Too wet, too thick. Open up that tub. Give her some air!
If mold doesn't bloom by the opening of the tub, then the moisture evaporation from the casing would be a nice pinning trigger. Due to the depth, and over hydration of the casing in question, it's going to take A LOT of fresh air exchange in order to begin drying that casing up.

I have been having shit like this happen since I changed to a different coir and was having to much water. I think I finally got it worked out. Extra water helps bacteria flourish as well.

From the discoloration im thinking some type of mold already got a foothold in. But it could be just the pictures themselves.

I posted these about a month ago, most of the pros figured to much water. It reminds me of the painted tulips that show crazy patters due to a virus that doesn't kill them.

Coir/verm isn't a good casing.
And cubes doesn't benefit that much from casing anyway.

I had to dump the tub outside in a bed of straw. Placing the micro tape on my vent holes, and placing a fan near by, pointing at the box, the mono tub did dry out a bunch, but by that time, the mean green had already moved in. Now I noticed the sides of the tub tho, had hundreds of knots, and I even seen a small cluster of pins starting. So off to the wild they went. Flipped the monotub upside down, with the casing facing the pile of straw, I placed more straw on top, and prayed to the Lord of Mycelium to bless me. The straw was unpasteurized. I figured, if tonight I take an L, tomorrow this might bounce back.

The reason for my casing? There are 2 main factors that came into play. First factor, when making the mono, I had left the grain exposed (my normal method is to leave a small layer of coir on top when you first set it up) this was due to setting up in a rush. Second reason into why I wanted to case? Something new! Ive made lots of tubs that just sit and forget til harvest. Reason 2.1 I will be growing gourmet very very soon, and what better to practice on then with my cubes. I have much to learn
