ID Request for possible Psilocybe Carulipes?
    #24269326 - 04/24/17 08:22 PM (6 years, 10 months ago)

Hey all, I live in an area in which the only two species of Psilocybe are P.  ovoideocystidiata and P. caerulipes. I think my girlfriend stumbled upon some P. caerulipes without knowing it, she later showed me the pictures and I thought they looked close. We'd be able to go get them for printing in 2 weeks, hopefully they are still there - do they look right to you guys?

Habitat - Not sure what types of trees were nearby, they were growing on rotted log with moss.

Location - Northeastern US.

I'm sorry I don't have much more info, my girlfriend didn't know there was reason to get more details.

not caerulipes.  wrong season and i can't recall anyone posting them fruiting directly from a moss covered log but rather wood chips and debris from certain types of trees.  maybe a pic or five fruiting from smaller branches, but not large logs.

that, and they don't look like caerulipes, either. i've found that species in your pics or something close to it before, but don't remember the ID.

Not a Psilocybe of Eastern US.  While caerulipes will fruit from well decayed birch/beech, the season is late summer.  Ovoids thrive in the floodplains.

Like the others siad, its not Psilocybe, looks like it may be pluteus but underside pictures would be really helpful in this case...

remember to post pics of the underside next time :super:
