Is this myc or contam?

Hello all, I used a spore syringe on agar plate, and being my first time, I don't know if this is myc or contam. It took quite a long time to get here. About a week with no action, and last few days I got this. It matches the points of inoculation. The rest of the plate is crystal clean. Is this how it's supposed to grow? at first I noticed something translucent under the agar, but last few days it "got out" with the white strands everywhere.

That looks like myc,you can go ahead and transfer the leading edge to a new plate(s)
+5 for starting with agar btw
You could start a new plate and streak it with spores like this,to have more colonies with fewer strains per colony, giving you lots to choose from for your first transfer, and zone 4 will be golden

for sure buddy it is a great technique, basically a serial dilution right on the plate
can cut about 100 transfers off of trying to get an isolate, and tremendously helpful for reducing the number of spores (and contams if they are present) present in each zone
i found that on a lab manual site i was reading, and shared it on here a long time ago, and have since seen members put it in their signatures, etc really good technique, especially if you understand what you are trying to do

Thanks for the info! I'll try it with spores after I get my first print I had a syringe this time, and it didn't seem to be working for some time. Waited for pretty long to see some action in the dish. I thought the syringe was bad. Right now I'm preparing the rye. I will also move a bit to a new plate to isolate.
