a song that fits you...
    #2426671 - 03/13/04 09:55 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

the most important reason people like the music that they do is because they can relate to it. post a song, or the lyrics to a song, which you think fits your personality.

i'll begin...

Meat Puppets - Oh, Me

If I had to lose a mile
If I had to touch feelings
I would lose my soul
The way I do

I don't have to think
I only have to do it
The results are always perfect
But that's old news

Would you like to hear my voice
Sprinkled with emotion
Invented at your birth?

I can't see the end of me
My whole expanse, I cannot see
I formulate infinity
Stored deep inside me

edit: the Nirvana Unplugged version doesn't have the same feel.

"Resist"

I can learn to resist
Anything but temptation
I can learn to co-exist
With anything but pain

I can learn to compromise
Anything but my desires
I can learn to get along
With all the things I can't explain

I can learn to resist
Anything but frustration
I can learn to persist
With anything but aiming low

I can learn to close my eyes
To anything but injustice
I can learn to get along
With all the things I don't know

You can surrender
Without a prayer
But never really pray
Pray without surrender

You can fight
Without ever winning
But never ever win
Without a fight

The Grateful Dead- Touch of Grey

It must be getting early
Clocks are running late
Paint by numbers morning sky
Looks so phony

Dawn is breaking everywhere
Light a candle, curse the glare
Draw the curtains, I don't care
'Cause it's alright

I will get by
I will get by
I will get by
I will survive

I see you got your list out
Say your piece and get out
Yes I got the gist of it
But it's alright

Sorry that you feel that way
The only thing there is to say
Every silver lining's got a
Touch of grey

It's a lesson to me
The Ables and the Bakers and the C's
The A B C's
We all must face
And try to keep a little grace

I know the rent is in arrears
The dog has not been fed in years
It's even worse than it appears
But it's alright

Cows are giving kerosene
The kid can't read at seventeen
The words he knows are all obscene
But it's alright

I will get by
I will get by
I will get by
I will survive

It's a lesson to me
The Deltas and the East and the Freeze
The A B C's
We all think of
And try to keep a little love

The shoe is on the hand it fits
There's really nothing much to it
Whistle through your teeth and split
'Cause it's alright

Oh well a touch of grey
Kind of suits you anyway
That was all I had to say
And it's alright

I will get by
I will get by
I will get by
I will survive

We will get by
We will get by
We will get by
We will survive

Silvertide - "Mary Jane"

well oh yeah....

Mary Jane
I'm getttin so fed up
with all the shit that
People keep sayin to me

Mary Jane
wisper in my ear
Cuz your the one who
Truely understands me

Mary Jane
You know you
Build me up
And I just beg you
Girl dont ever leave me

I wanna hear you
Scream my name Mary Jane
You get me fucked up
get me fucked up inside

Scream my name Mary Jane
you get me so high
get me so high

thats only the first veres, and chorus, cuz I couldt find any lyrics so I had to listen to the cd. But I recomend going to their website ( www.silvertidemusic.com ) to listen to the song.
I saw this band the other night at a concert and they kickass!

Jimmy Eat World - For Me This Is Heaven
The first star I see may not be a star.
We can't do a thing but wait, so let's wait for one more.
The time such clumsy time in deciding if it's time.
I'm careful but not sure how it goes.
You can lose yourself in your courage.
The mindless confort grows when I'm alone with my 'great' plans.
This is what she says gets her through it: "if I don't lef myself be happy now then when?"
If not now when?
When the time we have now ends.
When the big hand goes around again.
Can you still feel the butterflies?
Can you still hear the last goodnight?
Close my eyes and believe wherever you are, an angel for me.

A New Machine - Part I (Pink Floyd)

I have always been here
I have always looked out from behind the eyes
It feels like more than a lifetime
Feels like more than a lifetime

Sometimes I get tired of the waiting
Sometimes I get tired of being in here
Is this the way it has always been?
Could it ever have been different?

Do you ever get tired of the waiting?
Do you ever get tired of being in there?
Don't worry, nobody lives forever,
Nobody lives forever

--------------------
What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know,
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

I Can't Watch This
by Al Yankovic

Lyrics:

I can't watch this. I can't watch this
I can't watch this. I can't watch this

My my my my TV makes me so bored
Makes me say, oh my lord
What is this garbage here?
Wanna cover my eyes and plug my ears
It sucks, and that's no lie
It's about as much fun as watching paint dry
Lowers my IQ one notch
And that's the reason why, uh, I can't watch

I told you homeboy... I can't watch this
Yeah, nothin' but trash and you know...
I can't watch this
Poke out my eyes, man... I can't watch this
Yo, gimme that remote control... I can't watch this

Talkin' 'bout sick shows
Tere's America's Funniest Home Videos
I can't believe my eyes
When I see the kind of stuff that wins first prize
Somebody's poor old mom
Falls down off the roof, lands right on the lawn
Face first on a rake
I hear they've got it on the seventeenth take
That's funny as a kick in the crotch
And that kind of show, uh, I can't watch

Yo, I told you... I can't watch this
Change the channel now, man... I can't watch this
Yo, pass the TV Guide here, sucker... I can't watch this

Cosby Show and Rosanne
Think I've taken 'bout as much as I can
Judge Wopner, oh my
You gotta be Rainman to like this guy
Thirtysomething is alright
If you like hearing yuppies whining all night
Can't stand Twin Peaks
Wish they'd lynch those donun-eatin' freaks
Thos Siskel & Ebert bums
Oughta go home and sit on their thumbs

That's word because you know... I can't watch this
I can't watch this
Break it down!

Here's-how-to-order-money-back-guarantee-removes-tough-stains-fast-it-tastes-more-like-fresh-peanuts-they-keep-going-and-going-don't-hate-me-because-I'm-beautiful-could-be-dandruff-our-prices-are-insaaaane!!!

Stop! Prime Time!
I'm pretty sure I'll be sick
If I have to watch another stupid pet trick
Or that guy with the real flat hair
That goes "woof woof woof" and waves his fist in the air
Or those weird talk shows
About Transsexual Nazi Eskimos
They're rude, crude and vile
Just for a minute let's flip down the dial

Flip, flip, flip... yeccch, I can't watch this
Look man... I can't watch this
I can't take this torture no more, I can't...
I can't watch this
Pay the bills, station break
Break it down!

Operators-are-standing-by-cubic-zirconium-necklace-you're-soaking-in-it-and-our-fabulous-swimsuit-issue-when-you've-got-a-headache-this-big-this-is-your-brain-on-drugs-I've-fallen-and-I-can't-get-up!!

Stop! Cable Time!
HBO and Playboy, Showtime and MTV
I might like 'em more after my lobotomy
Now why did I ever pay for this junk?
I hooked up eighty channels and each one stunk
Just brainless blood and guts, and mindless T & A
It's awful, it's putrid, it's crummy, it's stupid, gonna throw my set away

I can't watch this. I can't watch this
I can't watch this. Yeah... I can't watch this
I told you... can't watch this
Too hip, can't watch this
Get me outta here... can't watch this

I Can't Watch This is the third (3nd) song on the "Off The Deep End" album and the fifth (5th) song on disc 4 of "Al-In-The-Box" . It is a parody of "U Can't Touch This" by Hammer with new lyrics by "Weird Al" Yankovic.

the waker-widespread panic
My name is the Waker
And I'm bringin' you the morning sun
I've pushed the old man up forever
Still I feel I've just begun

I've just begun

My name is treetop
And I'm higher than you'll ever be
I'm married to my roots here
Still I feel like I am free

Feelin' I'm free

My name is blue sky
And I'm bluer than all of you
I've watched you run around forever
Always searching for something new

There's nothing new

Feelin' I'm free

I've just begun

i'm always young

Love's always new

Liberation Frequency - Refused

It's coming through the air
For all of us to hear
Could it be the sounds of liberation
Or just the image of detention?

We want the airwaves back
We want the airwaves back
We don't just want airtime
We want all the time all of the time

We want the airwaves back
We want the airwaves back
We don't just want transmission
We want...

What frequency are you getting?
Is it noise or sweet sweet music?
What frequency will liberation be?
What frequency will liberation be?
It's coming through the air
For all of us to hear
Could it be the sounds of liberation
Or just the image of detention?
Control my flower
Business, news all ready to devour
Who's in charge and what does he say?
Is he playing the alternative or does it sound the same old way?

We want the airwaves back
We want the airwaves back
We want transmission for the people (by the people)
We mean...

We wanted everything
We needed everything
We needed everything

What frequency are you getting?
Is it noise or sweet sweet music?
What frequency will liberation be?
What frequency? What frequency?

What frequency are you getting?
Is it noise or sweet sweet sweet sweet sweet?
What frequency will liberation be?
What frequency? What frequency? What frequency?

We want the airwaves back
We want the airwaves back
We don't just want airtime
We want all the time all of the time

What frequency are you getting?
Is it noise or sweet sweet music?
What frequency will liberation be?
What frequency will liberation be?

What frequency are you getting?
Is it noise or sweet sweet sweet?
What frequency will liberation be?
What frequency? What frequency?

Mogwai, "Cody"

Of all i knew
I held too few
And would you stop me?
If i tried to stop you?

Old songs, stay to the end
Sad songs, remind me of friends
And the way it is, i could leave it all
And i ask myself, would you care at all

When i drive alone at night
I see the streetlights as fairgrounds
And i tried a hundred times
To see the road signs as day-glow

Old songs, stay to the end
Sad songs, remind me of friends
And the way it is, i could leave it all
And i ask myself, would you care at all

Tool - The Patient

a groan
of tedium escapes me
startling the fearful
is this a test? it has to be
otherwise i can't go on.
draining patience, drain vitality
this paranoid, paralyzed vampire act's a little old

but i'm still right here
givin' blood, keeping faith
and i'm still
right here

wait it out
gonna wait it out
be patient (wait it out)

if there were no rewards to reap
no loving embrace to see me through
this tedious path i've chosen here
i certainly would've walked away by now

gonna wait it out

if there were no desire to heal
the damaged and broken met along
this tedious path i've chosen here
i certainly would've walked away by now..

and i still may .. sigh.. i still may (NOT)

be patient
i must keep reminding myself of this

gonna wait it out

Silverchair - Emotion Sickness

Erupt again ignore the pill
And I won't let it show
Sacrifice the tortures
Orchestral tear cash-flow

Increase delete escape defeat
It's all that matters to you
Cotton case for an iron pill
Distorted eyes
when everything is clearly dying

Burn my knees and
Burn my knees and
Burn my knees and
E-motion sickness
Addict with no heroine
E-motion sickness
Distorted eyes
when everything is clearly dying

Burn my knees and
Burn my knees and pray
Burn my knees and
Burn my knees and pray
[All my friends say]
Get up get up get up get up
Get up get up get up
Won't you stop my pain

E-motion sickness
[To idle with an idol]
Addict with no heroine
Good things will pass
It helps with excess access
Lessons learnt

E-motion sickness
[Lost no friendship]
[Corrosive head pollution]
Lessons learnt

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity. ~ Albert Einstein

Love's Secret Domain - COIL
Oh rose, thou art sick
Seduce... let loose
The vision and the void
Blood sickle... honey suck

In little children's heavy heads
My dreams erupt while in my bed
Innocence is dripping red.

In dreams I walk with you
In dreams I talk with you
In dreams...
You're mine
All of the time.

Heads on fire and drunken lights
Days devoured by hungry nights
In love's secret domain
This is mad love
This is mad love
In love's secret domain.

Sweet tortures fly on mystery wings
Pure evil is when flowers sing
My heart,
My heart is a rose
This is mad love, Oh
This is mad love
In love's secret domain...

Give sanity a longer leash, but
Some of us have sharper teeth
In love's secret domain...

In dreams I walk with you...
In dreams I talk with you...
In dreams...
You're mine
All of the time.

Oh rose, Thou art sick
The invisible worm
The vision and the void
The blood sickle cuts.
And the honey sucks.

Oh rose, thou art sick !

Forest For The Trees ~ Stream Ohm

Sparkle and shimmer while flowing the

river down the stream of I

One more inspired moment

meets me on the way

down to the source

we know is all ending

and beginning once again

?

Sand notes run drippy

Smooth notes are grit

Sparkle and shimmer

While flowing the river

Down the stream of I

I see it coming from the edge of the void

Always random and Blipping

All or nothing

Like a donut of jelly

Arching its middle

Quantum jumping the puddle

Riding the word

Writing this word

Hello everybody

When you listen to these words

Just remember they were written by us

And they have always been around

Where have the notes come from

And the words and the people and the

instruments

They lay embedded in the source

Just remember they have been around

forever

Coming straight out of time

To share this space with you

This wave caress carries

the transmission

Of intangible truth

?

Just remember me and you

?

The garden the TV

Looking into itself and seeing me

Sometimes asking why

and not really caring

and Sometimes passion

time Time times a dimension

Change time in finding

new time's eternal

Like a multiplying something

Like adding forever

Memories of us (inbreath)

just remember... Me is You.

Foo Fighters - Disenchanted Lullaby

Disenchanted lullaby
Sing me yours, I'll sing you mine
Sing with me now what's a boy to do?
What's a boy to do?

Sing along for yesterday
Sing along my soul today
Sing along another song for you
What's a boy to do?

I may be scattered
A little shattered
What does it matter?
No one has a fit like I do

I may be scattered
A little shattered
What does it matter?
No one has a fit like I do
I'm the only one that fits you

Whispering to pass the time
Whisper for the days gone by
Whisper with the voice inside of you

With this ring you will be mine
With this ring I'll multiply
With this ring surrendering to you
What's a boy to do?

I may be scattered
A little shattered
What does it matter?
No one has a fit like I do

I may be scattered
A little shattered
What does it matter?
No one has a fit like I do
I'm the only one that fits you

Bad Religion - Delirium of Disorder

life is the sieve through which
my anarchy straing resolving itself into works,
chaos is the score upon reality is written,
the timeless, swirling gyroscopic horde,

delirium of disorder,

I am just an atom in an ectoplasmic sea,
without direction or a reason to exist,
the anechoic nebula rotating in my brain
is persuading me,
contritely, to persist

delirium of disorder
