Ya got me. Sacrasm is hard to read online for sure.
My best friends friends (we are semi-friends) bought an Alienware laptop some 5 years ago or so. He played Doom i think on it. He said the video card got so hot that it melted his laptop

You could buy a laptop for ~$400 and gradually upgrade it, for example with an SSD and more RAM. I did something similar and I don't know if it was the SSD or dual channel RAM boost that did the trick, but after the upgrade I could even play games like Alien Isolation. Of course, not on highest settings, but it was still playable.

Yeah except SSD and RAM matter very little for gaming aside from loading speeds.. CPU and GPU is what really matters for gaming and those can't be upgraded on a laptop

Indeed.
Laptops are not really easy to upgrade. Desktops are very easy to upgrade cause all parts are swapable.

When having integrated graphics on a laptop, dual channel memory can make a difference (source). Not much, but since we're talking about laptops, any improvement in performance is a success.

I wouldn't say they matter very little. They can actually be a huge impact on gaming performance depending on the game. Definitely however the GPU is the most important though.
RAM is one of those things that the speed of it doesn't make huge differences, but the amount you have can. Its a feast or famine scenario usually with it. As long as you have enough of it you are good, but if you fall short it can really impact your performance with all the swapping your system will have to do.
SSD impact can be massive if you have a game that loads things in a lot, like MMO's or open world RPGs or survival games. Anything that has a large enough world where it doesnt load the entire thing into memory on game start, but instead loads areas in chunks as you move through it. Minecraft is a big example of this as well and due to it being written in shitty java you can REALLY see the performance hits as you move from chunk to chunk.
As you said though since you 99% of the time cannot upgrade a GPU or CPU in a laptop, you definitely want to buy a system with both of those being powerful enough to satisfy, and the HD can be upgraded to an SSD later if money is tight. RAM also can usually be upgraded, though not always by a ton.

Well yeah SSDs make a massive difference if you are comparing them to HDDs. But this isn't 2005 sonny boy!! I dunno about you but I've been rocking SSDs for like 9 years now or some shit Any new performance laptop is going to come with an SSD anyway. The new Dell Laptops you can't upgrade the RAM at all, I tried adding more to my work laptop and I pulled it all apart to discover.. was like you motherfuckers. Locked at 8GB. bullshit.
