First grow, no idea about fruiting conditions

So everything seemed to be ok until I tried to fruit them.
Used half pint glass cups, standard pf tek recipe.
The strain is MDK.
After they were 100% I awaited for 1 week then birthed, dunked for 12 hours (in some cakes 24 hours) and rolled them in fine verm and improvised a fruiting chamber with mycobags.

Something weird happened on the cakes so I rinsed the verm out of them and they had this appearance.

English is not my mother tongue so be patient with grammar errors.
They've been on my kitchen and the temperature ranges from 70f to 75f.
The oldest cake was birthed on 03/27/2017.

Are they in a chamber? Does it have holes? How long did you dunk them?
Why did you wash off the verm? What did you see. I see some tubs, but no holes in them. Is this a kit?

Its not a kit, I just bought the bags they're in. (They were 1 dollar each so I thought that it was a good ideia)
They have a filter in them so I did not made holes...
As you can see on the image there are 2 kinds of cakes, the "fat" one had a faster colonization and I dunked for 12 hours the other one for 24 hours.
In one of the bags I made holes with the specifications of a shotgun fruiting chamber.
I rinsed the verm off because I saw dark spots on the cake, they were like small stones

those bags can work if you poke a bunch of holes like you did but its far from ideal.
+1 million points for the honesty of the thread title.

does your motherland have plastic storage totes?

When I was planning to use this as a fruiting chamber I thought I knew something but the experience showed me that I had no clue
I have a 50l organizing box which I poked two holes in order to make a SAB, was really thinking about making a fruiting chamber out of it and yes I have bought a polyfil "blanket".

I had a casing that had primordia on it and the thing I took out of these cakes didn't look anything like it.
This casing got trich on it (havent got mushrooms from it ), thats why I don't have any photos of it right now.
Should I dunk and roll the cakes again?
Or should I make a double end casing (or is this old stuff?)

If it got trich, get rid of it. If it's too dry, and looks Like it, a dunk could help. 12 hrs or so.

Well when I took them out of the bags they seemed too wet, they had small water puddles on their bottom.
One interesting thing that happened is that one of the cakes made a hole on the aluminium foil.
Another thing I forgot to mention, I could not smell the "myc smell" of the cakes, but after I rinsed them I could smell it again.

I read your Making shoeboxes, and I think I can buy something similar to those plastic totes.
I still have a half pint cup not birthed, was thinking about doing a Pktek to grain with that, but I am a bit frustrated at the moment.

stick with cakes try to make a proper chamber. id loose the perlite in the bags. just put the cake inside. bunch of holes in the bag. mist the cake when its not glistening with moisture.

Isnt it a bad idea to put the cakes directly on the perlite?
I have another poked bag on my storage i could change the bags right away.
If there is no problem in putting the cakes directly on the perilte I can hang them in the indoors clothesline.

yes. really bad idea. they suck up the moisture in the perlite and become waterlogged..soaked.
you dont need the perlite. cake, bag with holes, mister. thats all you need.
but research a SGFC for cakes. you can also do 'shoebox' grows inside the sgfc.

So can I put all of them in the same bag?
Is there a misting and fanning schedule that I could follow?
Why the perlite was a bad idea? (why isn't it needed)

Well it happened because the cake had trich on it even before I did case it so i think I was too optimistic about it. (It had like 1% of trich on it and I just cut it off and cased)
I have another 2 casings, but nothing special about its prep, jiffy mix with 50:50 ratio with vermiculite sterilized on the microwave.
One of the casings seems to have formed hyphal knots but it has just a spot of myc on the top of the casing (the pinset will be horrible)
