Hey, out of boredom tonight, I decided I'd post a short list of some pretty out-there stuff I've come across in the past month or so--some new, some just new to me.

B. Fleischmann - Welcome Tourist
B. Fleischmann - A Choir of Empty Beds

Both of these are very cool, and pretty chill.  Electronic downtempo beats and effects with sometimes real instruments (piano, xylophone, guitar, etc.) Any fan of Boards of Canada, Album Leaf, Mogwai, or the likes would love these albums, esp Welcome Tourist. I'm planning on tripping to this album next week.
song highlights: "Pass By", "As If"

Casino vs Japan - Whole Numbers Play By The Basics
Basically Boards of Canada plus giant gymnasium size reverb...  More good mellow electronic music, cool breakbeats with light melodies on top.  I've been fiending for this stuff, so most of the albums here are as such.
song highlights: "Moonlupe", "Summer Clip"

The Postal Service - Give Up
This is a project of the Death Cab For Cutie singer, with blippy electronic accompaniement.  Very unique style, basically emo-electro.  The style overall seems a bit limiting, but what's here is good, especially in a couple tracks where it shines.
song highlights:  "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight", "Such Great Heights"

Dave Attell - Skanks for the Memories
I had to include this, cuz I just found it. HILARIOUS. very dirty humor, sometimes just plain wrong. Here's a joke:
"The other night I had the lonely bug, so I go out to this bar. I see this beautiful woman alone. I'm thinking, I'm alone, she's alone, why not annoy the shit out of her. so I walk over, I'm walking, I'm wearing clogs... And I notice she's got a black eye, she's got a shiner. I'm thinkin, great, she doesn't listen. Well.......a couple of McNuggets and lies later, we're back at my house. And we're having sex Doggystyle. Now I didn't plan on it, but that's just how she passed out... Thank you slow gas leak!"

Bola - Fyuti
This one I haven't had a chance to listen to yet, but it's along the same mellow electronic lines, but a bit more experimental in style. I guess some would label it IDM. Blippy and melodic, and still you're able to bob your head.

Air - Talkie Walkie
Great album, just came out in stores.  These guys know exactly what they're doing, and if you haven't heard Air, you are definitely missing out.  Sometimes sort of an instrumental Beck...
song highlights: "Venus", "Mike Mills"

Astrobotnia - 1, 2, 3
These albums are very Aphex-ish, which makes people think that it's actually him. I think the real identity has never been revealed, and Aphex goes under many aliases, so it could be.  Very experimental, nice tb303 sounds, with a very atmospheric top. If you like Aphex Twin, Autechre, etc. you should go find this rarity.
Song Highlights: "Leftovers" (on 3), "Acidophilus II" (also 3)

Kenna - New Sacred Cow
Similar to The Flaming Lips without the silliness, and to the Postal service as well I suppose.  Good singer, cool electronic beats and sounds. This one is textured quite well, but sometimes sounds like new wave brit-pop...
Song Highlights: "FreeTime", "Red Man"

MC Paul Barman - Paullelujah!
HAHAHAHAHahhahaha hilarious MC... little jewish white rapper, with very creative rhymes, just throws out the 'hey i'm a rapper, i'm a bad ass' style, and it's fuckin refreshing.  This album was produced by Prince Paul. Barman's also in a little of Deltron 3030's cd.  ...hahahahhAHHAhahahah...
Song Highlight: "Cock Mobster"

Blackalicious - Nia
Haven't had enough time to listent thru this much... but Blackalicious=talented rhyming bastards. Great beats, I guaranteed you've heard a song or two of them. Fuckin Poets. really.

Anyone familiar with any of these artists? Please post your comments, suggestions, questions.  I really Searched my Soul to find these great albums, so lemme know if I can guide you in your quest if you're interested...

Sounds like I have to check out Skanks for the Memories, Dave is one funny SOB .

MC Paul Barman is awesome.  My friend sent me a few of his tracks a while ago, his lyrics are really original and he has an interesting delivery.  I especially like "Vulture Shark Sculpture Park", groovy beats on that track.

I haven't heard all of Nia, but i really like the one song "Deception".  Funky beats and it tells a good story along the way.

Thanks for the post .

Astrobotnia's identity has been revealed, people recognised him when he did live shows. He is Ovuca which is Aleksi Per?l? from Finland.

If you dig Astrobotnia, get 'Wasted Sunday' by Ovuca (also on Rephlex).

And you should listen more to Bola Fyuti (bowl of jew-tea?). Truely an excellent album, very atmospheric. Magnasushi is massive. So is Pae Paoe and Veronex Cypher. Bola Soup is also a good album.
