Contams?

can mycelium bruise while its growin in the jar ? or are these contams?
it grew very nicely but now i cant tell... these are 2 different jars.
inoculated 3/18 with agar wedges

can anyone explain late stage contams to me?
I had a couple jars that got fully colonized and then i saw a little bit of green mold. but its such a tiny amount, but i can tell its contamination for sure. not sure about the ones in the pics.
I had these jars sitting for like a month after I PC'd them, nothing was growing on them before i inoculated with agar wedge infront of the flow hood.
if they are contams why would they show up right before the jar is fully colonized ?

different contamns do different things. you can always top fruit the jar. case her in coir and away you go.
this jar was bacterial and it pushed out some good fruits.

I see bruising that's all. Dry spawn. Is it older? Should have been subbed up long ago

yeah i think the grains were a little dry. I started the spawn on 3/18 but i PC'd the jars like 3-4 weeks prior.
what is "subbed up" ?

Added to substrate such as manure, verm, coir, etc and put in a tub to fruit

in that case, it was probably really just a little too dry grains. Aaah, that's what that is. I thought I was looking at disposable kitchen wipes or a cut up vacuum filter or something

Don't let the jars sit around for a month before inoculation next time, use it asap. It might have looked clean but you won't see bacteria.
You're actually lucky to catch contamination in the spawn jars. More often then not you won't see or smell mold (and lots of times you won't smell bacteria although if its bad it can be detected, same as visually).
Molds like Trich tend to stay hidden until exposed to fresh air , that's why people think their sub got contaminated from the room. Most substrates from contaminated spawn sporulate before or during the first flush

if the contams do sporulate during the first flush the fruits should still be ok right? could you even harvest a 2nd flush if thats the case ?
also where did you get the little petri dish stand in front of your flowhood ? I've been looking for one of those.

Heres a closer pic of it, you know what it is actually? Its just a baking rack haha I stole it from my girlfriend but she nabbed it back. Now I'm using a test tube rack upside down... Just not the same
Heres a photo of a later flush with Trich. The fruits are fine to eat. Even if the mean green touched the fruits they would just fall over, maybe I'd cut the base away cause trich kinda rots em.
If you do get mold though, *get it out of your house ASAP* . I'm serious. You get a high enough spore/fragmented mold myc in your house and growing gets really hard. Keep an eye out for bright white, crystalline looking growth. That's trich before it goes green. That's when you want to try to catch it and get it out. You can try to fruit it outside or trash it and wash ur tub
