Eating safely

So basically I got these off of a friend, who I know for a fact he knows what he is doing, and being a "dealer" I would assume all precaution would be taken against giving away a contaminated specimen.

However, I've kinda let somethings psych me out and have a question about contamination.

I'm fully aware about heavy bruising. But the first 2 pics is a shroom that the stem seems almost black. When I crack the stem open though, it's nice and white.

(Sorry for bad resolution pics, I have a android)

So I guess my question(s) is;
1. Do the pics above and below show any sign of possible contamination before harvest and drying? Even seeing as that 1st stem looks black?

2. If the substrate was possibly contaminated, isn't it true that scientifically the mushroom wouldn't transfer that contamination toxins to me? And also that the drying in his dehydrator would kill mold (at 140°) and bacteria (at 102-120°)

As I said, I'm sure he would have taken precautions, but it's my health not his lol.

In summary, is there anything in these pics that should indicate I don't chomp these down?

1. They do not look like they were contaminated. Bruising can make dried flesh look black, so can spores. It looks like yours have heavy bruising and spores on them.

2. All of the Trusted Cultivators say toxins from contaminates can not be passed through the fruitbody but I have no data to back that up. Seems very unlikely.

Those temps in the dehydrator for a long enough period of time would kill the initial bacteria on the mushrooms but it would not kill thermophilic bacteria. Just touching them has re-crosscontaminated them with more. The heat wouldn't necessarily destroy several different mycotoxins and bacteriotoxins. Cooking kills most organisms but will not always breakdown the toxic metabolites from those organisms.

Minimize bare hand contact, keep them stored with a desiccant, preferably under 41°F, and boil them into a tea if you are that worried. I would just snack down on 1.8-3.6g and smoke some good herb.

they are fine, enjoy! just some spores and bruising indeed. They actually look quite good, I've bought way worse looking in the past...
