Yeah it is super dry. The only way I can get these pinsets is if it's that dry.
Slightly wetter and it's a very uneven flush and much smaller fruits and less dense.
I swear the dryness helps them somehow and I was reading this thinking that maybe there is some correlation

Mad Season said: Last time I checked people got the best yields by giving the best conditions possible, and one of those are a glistening surface at all times. Drying out a sub on purpose by heating it up seems like it'd cause more harm. People who know how to keep good conditions are coincidentally the ones with the best yields on here.
I agree, but drying out the sub on purpose won't harm the mycelium if you know how to do it. I honestly think it's beneficial but like I said I don't have conclusive proof of that.
Don't forget that in nature fungi can go through quite long periods of drought, and still come up with plenty of fruits when the first rain comes. They love those fluctuations if they are not too extreme.
But in the end it is probably just the amount of fae and the dryness is part of that in my environment.

yeah it appears so. even though the clustering is on the sides. its mass clustering. and the coir or peat your using almost looks like pencil shavings to me because of the drying. its more about balancing the evaporation rate for you. which is kind of cool to see.

I am glad somebody else noticed this. I really need to work on some clones this winter and see if there is any truth to that hypothesis.

would making those surface more concave/convex have any effect on more equal pinning across the entire surface? i had that problem when i did a bunch of bags. but those are pretty cool. make me wanna retype bags
@LM, bod pointed that out in the other thread. drier conditions makes it easier to pull denser pinsets. ive noticed it too. in the winter months, when my heater dries shit out to death, and i mist more.. i can get denser sets. im thinking its from the drier ambient conditions making evaporation easier, which is a major pinning jawn.

Yeah for sure! its fucking awesome!
Damn nice job Tom!
very nice Martin.
martin, it looks like yours might be dropping spores a little more. mine wouldn't drop until the caps flipped upside down.
what about you tom? were you able to get decent prints? they definitely drop later than most cubes.

Yeah the prints are lighter than anything i've worked with but seems like this recent tub is dropping more consistently but still late.
I'll post another update in a sec... taking more prints from the second bag tonight.
