Aye! Poured some plates last night and noc'ed em up this morning!! using 1/2 pints for "petri" dishes. time to put the first notch on my belt. 5 different agar recipes goin to see how Lucy does on each one.

kinda feel like (+/-)2.5% agar is too stiff. im rootin for the brf plate and PDA-1

why not g2g? quicker, easier, less vectors
(even though doing that with straight spores to grains gives me the runs)

Yes. And if it's clean I'll make a GLC and expand a portion of that to LC. If it's not, I'll repeat the process with 1/2ml in four jars.
If it doesn't come out clean, then I would suggest noccing up some agar to test if the inoculum is clean before repeating your process. Merely my two cents. Very nice work though.
I only wish GLC was referred to correctly as a GLI.
On that note my spores arrived whilst I was constructing this post!

Grain to grain is not easier, nor is it faster in the sense of preparing and processing than LC, nor is there less vectors.
You have to get your liquid culture techniques down pact, though, because LC is a completely different skill set than G2G.
The only real thing that makes LC any more difficult than G2G is the finickyness of the medium it's self. Once that's overcome, you're home free with LC.

i think i understand the difference (hopefully) Li being spores suspended in a liquid medium and lc being mycelium?

Nah, good guess though. It's pretty much like what MorelMan said.
LI is the use of liquid (in our case sterilized water) as the transferring medium for live mycelium from either a grain, or agar culture unto another substrate.
A liquid culture is the cultivation of healthy mushroom mycelium in an artificial liquid media broth containing nutrients, sir.

the grains are a huge vector, they're never truly sterilized the way we do it, just knocked back long enough for our culture to overtake the grains before their own endospores do.
testing your LC before use is always a good idea in my book too.
