Welcome back all. Another season is slowly getting under way. Still cracker dry out there for the most part. My go-to April sub patch is no more having been logged and dozed over the summer but did find this nice little flush of P. Alutacea in a promising microclimate. Happy hunting

Really sick finds (surrogate) bob. I will have to check out some poopy areas this year. What sort of dung is that? Any tips?
Happy mushrooming SA.

Cheers mate as NYK has mentioned they're most common on roo dung. Mostly find them in grassy fields but also in native scrub. Anywhere with an abundance of kangaroo's away from BRK's potty trained roo's is worth a try. Easy to find once you have an eye for them. I'll probably drop some info on P.Alutacea in the sub hunting guide. Lots of different phenotypes just as with subs. I have a feeling some populations could be quite potent.

G'day PN
Couple more shots of P.Alutacea from the same area. The few that are there are pretty small.

Habitat
At this stage I just look for green patches in gullies, mostly south facing hill sides. They seem to like to grow close to the cover of reeds in this area.

Snakes like these spots too though

I'll never tire of looking for subs but to find Psilocybe Alutacea would totally make a whole picking season - so photogenic! How do the stems compare in relative terms with P.subs firmness wise? Thanks again for sharing your porn stash.

You kind of turn a blind eye to them after a while. Have to remind myself they're potentially deadly.

Hope you get on to them! I know you'd get some cracker shots. Stipes are very much like subs' woody, fibrous texture.

Been an alright start to the year yet again with delicious inactives. Planning on doing a lot of camping and long distance hiking this year so pretty excited. Interested to find some of them P.Alutacea, they stick around all season?
