agar newbie - parafilm vs micro-pore tape vs -

So I made my first 30 plates of agar MEA and all went well, except the use of micro-pore tape. I found it to be quite tedious putting on, taking off and then re applying when using my plates.
Is parafilm that much easier? It seems expensive, but I'm more interested in ease of use. I see people on here posting about doing 100 plates a night... in my current configuration I would pull my hair out in no time.
So my question is.. what is the easiest to use to seal your plates for storage prior to use and during colonization?

Following and in the same boat...though I did order two rolls of grafting parafilm. I could use it for grafting if it fails for the plates. Still, i'd like to see the responses.

So it looks to me like this question has been answered heavily and my poor search skills failed me prior to posting.
General consensus is that parafilm is much easier and goes a very long way. It's an expensive first purchase, but it lasts.
Others mention that a low cost solution is saran wrap cut into 1 - 2" strips.

No. Saran wrap won't allow for GE. It's fine for storing them before use, but once you use them, you need breathable glad wrap (cut into 2" strips).

Saran or glad works just fine. There's enough air in the plate to support all the growt even pin formation. Advice from experience people I've never seen someone using saran fail.
Don't use tape it leaves residue on your dishes
I prefer cling wrap to parafilm just for ease of use

I've never used saran because when I first started agar, I remember reading that it doesn't work. Good to know, I will give it a try tomorrow. I plan on making 20 plates of PDA. Definitely trust Bod OP, sorry for the bad info.

Great to know. Cling wrap for the win.
Are people reusing the dishes? Glass pyrex dishes are sexy, but damn pricey. I haven't been throwing out dishes, but was wondering if people cleaned, sterilized and reused.

You can't reuse disposable dishes. I have pyrex dishes they blow dick so i use disposables exclusively. Reusing dishes is a pain in the dick and probably ends up being less eco friendly by the time you use water and soap/detergent then having to run a sterilization cycle to sterilize the dishes again.

yeah, I used micropore tape once and that was a bitch cleaning them afterward. AFA glass vs. disposables, I used disposables and liked them but burned through them fast (due to user error). NOBODY likes to use glass, but I've opted for them anyway because ultimately they are less wasteful. They also vary A LOT in price and quality, and take some real care and planning to clean, dry, stack and wrap before PCing or autoclaving.
I have NOT found much info differentiating the Grafting Parafilm and the stuff meant for pertis. Anyone using the grafting film? I do more plant work than fungus work so I will use it either way, but it would be good to hear.
Thanks y'all.

I wouldn't use micropore on plates.
Parafilm is pretty fast and easy, works really well but you have to cut the strips and peel which is kinda a PITA.
I use a combination of Parafilm and cling wrap, depending on how many plates I'm doing/how much time I have

Try these from big lots they're only $1.80 for three of them there safe for the pressure cooker as long as you do a Weep hole with micropore tape on top

always used cling film. Only downside is cutting a roll can go wrong. I've found using a very sharp demi-chef cooking knife works really well, as long as I make a circular cut by turning the roll every time, instead of going straight down. That left me with cling film that stuck to the roll more than to the petris.

you know how much you would pay over here just to get a bottle tek suitable container??? I was in the hardware store yesterday, and the Systema brand (which they have everywhere nowadays here, pretty much the only brand with a screwlid) costs, for 1 (ONE!!!) approx. 500 ml container................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................7,50 bucks! That's euro's, but fuck me, I could buy a week worth of ORGANIC vegetables for 3 of those fuckers. And that's for me, the misses AND the kid, and we eat lots of veggies.

Exactly. When it leaves a bur on the cardboard is the only time it's a pain in the ass. Breaks of halfway around the plate
