Is this mycelium or contam?
    #24228598 - 04/08/17 06:56 PM (7 years, 9 months ago)

This is my first try in making spawn and not quite sure if this is mycelium or is any type of contamination.

Left side of the bag looks contaminated to me, the rest of it is so wet looking, probably bacterial.

So I should trash it or there is something I could do?

I'd trash it. Explain your inoc process. Have you considered agar work? It's the best shit IMO for people starting because it helps you transfer clean mycelium away from contaminations, and it teaches you how to have good sterile techniques.

Originally I didn't consider agar since I just wanted to try the waters. But recently I have thought in trying agar. For this try, I just pc the wbs following some steps I found in a link that was posted here from a different forum. I injected the culture I bought on mushrooms site. I had some problems with sealing the bags since I dont have an impulse sealer and tried using a vacuum sealer and it was quite difficult.

It is possible to save some mycelium from that bag using agar?

I was trying not to spend much on tools but guess I was wrong in using a vacuum seal. Also it was after but I already bought a impulse sealer.

I was thinking in it would be great in trying to save the pink oyster considering that I would need to spend in cultures again. But I understand what you mean. Guess I can start with agar using the other cultures I have saved.

If it's oyster mycelium, you could keep the bag for now. Oysters are known for being very contam resistant, they might just keep colonizing regardless of contams. After fruiting, you could take a good looking fruit and clone it...
