So I have had a few "wedges" that after transfer, well part of them seem to almost melt into the new agar plate, takes a couple days. Is this just the mycelium digesting part of the wedge?

stareatclouds said: If I'm seeing little satellite colonies a full week after myc transfers, what's the likely culprit? They're happening in both Pasty Plate's (with parafilm around them) and glass 1/2 pints with SFDs/surgical tape.
The actual myc growth looks great, but a week after initial transfer, tiny satellites pop up kinda far away from the myc growth.
This hasn't happened to my petri dishes.
if it still looks like cube myc then it probably is. the reason it takes longer is because the growth is microscopic on the smaller inoculation points

Ok I bought potato flakes (unflavored).
1. Which is better, inject spores into all the agar plates or Inject only on one agar plate, and if successful, transfer that inoculated agar into other plates.
2. After cooking the agar, should I wait for it to cool down before transferring it to the mini rounds, or little warm is fine?
3. 2.5g of agar powder can make how many plates?

Does the final result have to be liquid or little solid?

Not relevant, whatever it is (that means it doesn't matter)

If you use 2.5g of agar to half a cup of water, it's gonna be harder than a rock.
Try 1.9 agar, 1TSP potato flakes, and the smallest drop of honey you can get.
Please pasty, not stepping on your toes. Wouldn't have plates without this Tek. But the recipe I posted above makes nice soft plates, and encourages rhizomorphic growth due to low nutes.
Maybe not the best recipe for spores, but for transfers, that's what I do. This recipe also breaks up very easy on liquid innoculant

I think i added too much agar and flakes, and 2 drops of honey. i have 8 glad rounds prepared already.
Waiting for them to cool down then i will PC them. If i should redo everything, pls tell.

I placed warm agar liquid into the glad rounds and closed it, before PCing, condensation already build up inside. Is this safe, should i just PC?

Dude just go for it I'm sure you'll do just fine. Condensation is expected. If you follow the tek and somehow it doesn't work then go back and follow it again till it does work. Its a proven method... Knock up as many plates as you want, you can always make more

based on your questions I would suggest some more research.. the links in my signature are all cultivation/agar related and should help you out.

After PCing yesterday, today I opened it and inoculated.
I drilled the holes on side, so there was only tyvek (which got wet). Before inoculation, I added another layer of tyvek.
Top outer parts of glad mini rounds had water, I just shacked them and it was gone.
But inside of the glad mini rounds also had condensation build up on top parts, I removed it by shacking just second before inoculation.
And.. right now all the plates are inside SAB, I will remove them after couple of hours and place them inside cabinet.
Don't know how this will go.

Hello everyone. So I followed the steps and here I am about a week later and it appears there is some milky colored goo building up on top of the agar. Couldn't get a good pic but I'm hoping this is a good sign. A few side notes. I used cheap Wal-Mart instant potatoes which I think was a mistake. There are chunks of meat in it which it didn't advertise but its my fault I should have read the ingredients. Anyway the agar is, well, chunky lets say. Anyhow I hope it still works and will update on progress.

No, it's not a good sign, that's bacteria, toss the plate.

I feel like instant potatoes would have high sodium content no? Either way what yoyre describing sounds like bacteria
