Bitcoin: The Hard Fork: 3rd Edition 1

It seems a hard fork is inevitable, now. I have heard it's anywhere from this week to about a month away, but all I hear is it is coming.
A little background: a "hard fork" is going to occur because the developers of bitcoin want to take a different approach than most of the big miners. Essentially it has to do with how many transactions can be recorded each second - the developers (Bitcoin Core - BTC) want to have a larger but still constant size of transactions; the miners (Bitcoin Unlimited - BTU) want the size to be variable, increasing and decreasing as needed. The conversation has gotten pretty heated, and the miners have said they will cause a fork in the blockchain - essentially creating two currencies out of one.
What are you doing with your bitcoin? Keep it in your wallet? With an exchange?
I've got most of my btc with an exchange at the moment. I was thinking about pulling it out...but my exchange has just come out and said yes, we will all be given access to the new coin. Even if I have it lent out.

I got an email from circle the other week about this. I'm keeping mine. I only have like $100 worth in my wallet so if something happens to it, it's not a big deal.

If you just have it sitting in a wallet what happens when the hard fork occurs? How do you make sure you end up with both? Really hoping it doesnt crash but that seems likely

In theory you should have access to both currencies should a hard fork occur. You will have to wait for your wallet developer to include support for the new currency, though.

As far as I've been able to figure out there was a bust a few months back with a direct connection to the darknet. Prices have been slowly going up recently and a few people who I trust on DN forums have said to brace for high prices and low supply shortly until someone else fills the void. Might not take long but you never know
It may be more dependant on where you live from what I read as well since some vendors won't sell to certain countries. It seems like the US hasn't been hit as hard yet since there are many Canadian vendors that only ship to Canada and the US vs. worldwide so the stock is still there.

That guy who got busted in FL was at the bottom of the supply chain I doubt it will have a substantial effect. Prices were goin up before he got busted and they've recently gone slightly down with talk of them going further lower in the future

True, but when a vendor gets busted vs a buyer the feds have a better chance finding thier way to larger sources which seems to already be the case here.

So, we went through the first hard fork of the blockchain without much of a hiccup!
I traded all of my BitcoinCash for actual Bitcoin as soon as I could...even so, I only made a little - but that little was 100% free
So now we have another hard fork coming up! Actually, two: Bitcoin Gold, and the SegWit2x hard fork. Bitcoin Gold doesn't seem to have much support behind it, and I expect it to tank initially - so if you want to trade it, you better do it fast! The SegWit2x fork, however, seems to have a majority of the miners behind it...but it doesn't have the core Bitcoin developers on board. Not too sure what this one will do...
Some of the bigger exchanges have come out and said they will be listing the SegWit2x coin as a new currency. They are essentially waiting to see which coin (Bitcoin or the new SegWit2x) will come out on top as the primary global cryptocurrency. With the split between the developers and the miners, however, I don't really see a quick resolution to the problem
Wait and see...there is a big chance to increase your BTC holdings within the next month or so
