What is this V notch in these cultures? These are on second transfer away from germination of PE culture- looked clean to me.
There are 2 cultures with the same V shaped notch , that were both taken from the same culture (that was a transfer away from germination).

small, no hole tiny ass cooler tub with 1qt of rye spawn and proportional coir setup using 5050 tek. This bag had signs of metabolites so it was spawned by itself. been colonizing since Wednesday. any ideas on how to fruit this one? was going to experiment with open air fruiting with the lid held open about 4 inches to allow light and air.

also just started three 51 qt standard monotubs on their colonizing schedule today. using same sub/Spawn setup. 5qts spawn in each. some of the rye bags were possible infected with bacteria (slight off smell), so those were taken to another room and spawned seperately. possible contaminated tub is wrapped in trash bags for colonizing, the other two good ones are not. I'll post pics of the larger tubs once they start showing signs of growth.

I consider that a sign on a contam that stopped the growth at the tip of the V. Transfer away from it to a new plate.

This is the first jar to go green on me in about a year and I honestly have to blame it on the no soak because that's the only that changed this run. This shit just showed up in the last couple hours, only 1 jar out of 10...so far anyways

I did your 30 minute boil technique the other day and didn't use a soak. Good growth so far, looks really clean, and I've been having bacteria issues for a while. So it can't be that bad if it's working for me.

Yea it only ended up that 1 jar, the others look beautiful so it must have been a loose lid or something snuck in during the agar drop.

Yes but the same V in the same spot on two different plates transfered from different places of the original culture? That's what's got me baffled!
I'm gunna make at least a couple more transfers from these anyways tho yea
