SGFC question
    #24194251 - 03/26/17 10:06 AM (7 years, 3 days ago)

How long will your perlite stay wet enough for proper fruiting conditions.  I have several jars colonizing, but only a few that are ready to birth.  The others are probably 2 weeks behind.  Will i have to clean out the chamber and refill with new perlite before the next batch is ready?

nope. perlite should last for about a month or 2?? i havent done cakes in ages but it last for a month easy.

and its a rock so you can use it over and over and over. just mist the perlite with your cakes if you think it looks dry.

It will stay wet for a long time if you used at least 3 inches depth. No need to soak it again, keep it moist by misting it heavily every now and then.

Also, you can build a monotub fruiting chamber and fruit the cakes there as long as you fill the chamber with cakes. It will rid you of the need to use messy perlite and it will work just as well.

kind of depends on your climate, but it will last a long time. At least a month. Cool trick to re hydrate it with less hassle is to put the whole SGFC in the shower and let it run for a few minutes. :super:

Mine stayed wet for about a month and a half. Then I took a water bottle, popped a bunch of holes in it, took the cakes out and squeezed it in there. Did that three times and it's back up to par.

works great with minis. cake and a tray. you could crumble up a 1pint worth of cake and mix
it in a small tupperware with 1 pint of prepped cvg. and do a cake with a tray. see which one you like.
